Windenburg is a world shipped with The Sims 4: Get Together. It's comprised of a countryside area in the mainland, an older styled quaint town center, a modern shore side and an island. Castle-like ruins can be found on the mainland and most of The Crumbling Isle is surrounded by crumbling man-made walls. These ruins are inspired by Gothic buildings in Europe (primarily Germany and Denmark) and they indicate the old age of the city.

With a total of 27 lots and 26 housed residents when beginning a save file there, Windenburg is the largest and most populated world in The Sims 4.

Description[]

Take ye olde deep breath and enjoy the mountain air. This green, expansive playground has got it all; lush countryside, serene and rocky cliffs, a quaint village with remnants of the old world all nestled around the modern shore side business center.

With Seasons installed, Windenburg experiences cool falls and springs, with sunny or cloudy skies and occasional rain. Summer temperatures range from warm to heat waves with possible thunderstorms. Winters are characterized by a lot of snowfall and cold or freezing temperatures. Dangerous blizzards can occur in the winter.

Trivia[]

  • Windenburg appears to be based on central and southern regions of Germany, where there are many fachwerkhaus style (traditional timber-framed) houses. The world's name also appears to be German – "Winden" could refer to wind (Wind) or morning glory (Winde), and Burg is German for "castle". This etymology could easily tie in with the castle ruins in the Crumbling Isle and the Ancient Ruins. It is also very similar to the name of the notable German airship, Hindenburg.
  • It is the first world in The Sims 4 to be inspired by somewhere outside United States.
  • A very similar neighborhood was originally designed for The Sims 4 base game, but was ultimately unreleased.
  • Windenburg is an unusually large world, in several ways. With 27 lots, it has more than any other world in The Sims 4 (or almost any, depending on how one counts the apartments in San Myshuno). Two of Windenburg's lots measure 64x64, making it the first world to have more than one lot of this size. Windenburg ties with San Myshuno and Brindleton Bay for the second-highest number of neighborhoods – four – beat only by Willow Creek's and Oasis Springs' six neighborhoods each. Finally, three special lots give Windenburg more than any other world, though Magnolia Promenade, Mt. Komorebi, and Selvadorada each have three secret lots.
  • Many residents' names are Germanic (e.g. Ulrike Faust, Maaike Haas, Gunther and Wolfgang Munch) or Scandinavian (e.g. Bjorn and Elsa Bjergsen). However, other residents have names from a variety of other places in Western Europe, and the Behrs' design suggests recent Japanese ancestry. Altogether, Windenburg seems to have a relatively cosmopolitan population.
  • Old Country is mentioned in Windenburg, which might suggest the town is part of the Old Country.
  • Windenburg is the only world in The Sims 4 to include a public pool.
  • According to the description of the wind chimes object from The Sims 4: Backyard Stuff, Windenburg has a sister city called Windemere.
