Visitors allowed is a lot assignment in The Sims 3 introduced in Patch 12, after which point it became a catch-all assignment type. It is loosely equivalent to regular community lots in The Sims 2.
The main difference compared to No visitors allowed, is that NPCs will consider themselves able to enter doors on Visitors allowed lots.
There are few (if any) consistent patterns as to which kinds of lots that were given the Visitors allowed assignment by Maxis, and it has occasionally varied between worlds. Post-The Sims 3: Supernatural, it was primarily given to hangout-like lots (possibly by mistake), harvest gardens, and in some worlds rabbit hole lots.

Pirate's Hideaway is a small Visitors Allowed lot in Barnacle Bay. It features an underground cavern whose entrance is obscured by vegetation and players may easily fail to spot that there is a lot here.
Pirate's Hideway appears to be part of the history of Barnacle Bay, which sits on a rocky outcrop. Some of the town's residents talk about long lost pirate treasure in their bios, could they be referring to this place? This was once the hide away for a pirate called Cathy Chaterly who died of old age. The basement below the stairs features a maze of rooms (including Cathy's bedroom which is where you'll find her urn). Other urns with no names are scattered throughout, and a skull and cross bones toy chest.

The Wanderer's Watering Hole is a small drinking establishment in Barnacle Bay that is assigned as Visitors Allowed. It features bars for drinks and would suit being reassigned as a Hangout or Watering Hole. Note that the 2nd floor is fake, and by default has no staircases leading up to it.
Strangely for a lot designed as such an indoor bar, there are no bathrooms.
