Vaughn Braun is a pre-made playable Sim residing in SimValley from The Sims Bustin' Out for console. He is a scientist at the Shiny Things Lab, along with Makino Nada. His primary goal in Bustin' Out is to introduce his rocket gnome to a big crowd of Sims. A rocket gnome is similar to a normal gnome but slightly resembles a rocket and can be launched into the air.

- Vaughn, along with Makino, will not laugh at any jokes that other Sims tell, no matter how many times they try. This reason may be due to personality and/or their mood.
- Vaughn has a sofa and a reclining chair named after him in the seating/bedding catalog.
- Although the sofa and chair existed since The Sims 1 for PC and may not be a reference to him but moreso be a reference to his namesake
- Like every NPC in The Sims Bustin' Out for Consoles, Vaughn cannot be married to.
- Vaughn and Makino will always be abducted by aliens if they gaze at night.
- His name is a play on Wernher Von Braun, a German rocket scientist from the 1950s.
- Vaughn is the representative sim that appears in the "Mad Scientist" ending, without Makino.
- He shows up with a mutant plant even though the incubator is nowhere to be found on the Shiny Things Labs lot
- Vaughn appears, alongside Mona Lott, Bing Bling, Randy Hart and Fran Foofaraw in a promotional render for the Handheld game
- The Japanese description calls him: "風変わりな研究所に住む奇妙な科学者です。"
- Translated it means "a strange scientist who lives in a strange laboratory."
- Vaughn, along with Makino, cannot be recreated in CAS-mode as their labcoats are exclusive to them and the unlockable looks different from their actual coats
- In Vaughns case: the coat is drastically shorter than the actual one.
