Vacation Director Kana is one of the NPCs who is added in The Sims: Vacation. She greets Sims when they first arrive at Vacation Island, advising them to check in at the front desk and to be courteous and check out in the morning. Players can have Sims ask her for information about various aspects of gameplay on Vacation Island, and she will eventually shoo the Tragic Clown if he shows up.

Normally, she just wanders around, occasionally talking to Maid Marrion, Janitor Tanya, or members of the Vacationer families. Vacationing Sims cannot interact with a Sim who is waiting to be talked to by Kana, as any interaction that is selected will drop out of the action queue. Sims will even abandon plates of food when Kana wants to talk to them. Since they won't go back to those plates, the player can click on an abandoned plate and tell a Sim to eat it. She is also responsible for giving Vacation Awards to controllable Sims.

If children are in a bad mood, they will begin to misbehave; misbehaving children can be seen taunting or bullying other vacationers and kicking the mascot. Kana will warn parents of misbehaving children, and will fine them if the child is not dealt with.

Problems Edit

  • If a pet is present, it may be difficult for Sims to receive Vacation Awards, because the other family members will normally cheer when a Sim receives an award. Pets aren't able to cheer, so the action will be ignored, preventing her from giving the award.

Trivia Edit

  • Vacation Director Kana was based on one of The Sims' producers, Kana Ryan.
  • When Sims first arrive on the lot, she is located outdoors; however, if the player's Sims are indoors and if she decides to talk to them, she will remain indoors until she has to go outside again.
  • If a pool is present she may decide to swim in it, making it impossible for other Sims to talk to her.
