Using {{Simbio4}} templatesEdit

Hi Kai 12. Please note that {{Simbio4}} templates are only for Sims that appear in The Sims 4 and at least one other game. If the Sim only appears in The Sims 4, {{Sim4}} should be used instead. Thanks, —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 11:39, June 17, 2017 (UTC)

Oh, sorry. I'm new to this wiki, so I didn't know. However, it should be noted that the sim4 template is buggy, and does not show certain things, like the grades for Sims in grade school or high school. - Kai 12 (talk) 11:45, June 17, 2017 (UTC)
That's alright. As for the bug you mentioned, could you link to a page that has this problem? I may look into the bug when I have time. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 11:48, June 17, 2017 (UTC)
When I see the page for Elsa Bjergsen, for example, I cannot see her grade in the infobox, although the data is there. - Kai 12 (talk) 11:51, June 17, 2017 (UTC)
I've fixed the bug (Was a pretty simple fix too!). Someone forgot to set the grade parameter for {{Sim4}}; it was just a matter of adding it in. Thanks for letting me know. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 11:54, June 17, 2017 (UTC)
Sure, no problem. Thanks for fixing it. - Kai 12 (talk) 11:57, June 17, 2017 (UTC)

Just a note about adding information about Sim's skillsEdit

Just thought I'd point out that it's unnecessary to state if a Sim has no skills. If a Sim has no skills, it's better not to include any skill information altogether. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 21:30, June 18, 2017 (UTC)

It's just that I thought including nothing at all will make it seem like the data just doesn't exist in the wiki, i.e. the wiki doesn't know anything about it. Writing "no skills" makes it clear that it is known for a fact that the said sim doesn't have any skills. But I'll stop anyway if you say so. - Kai 12 (talk) 02:07, June 19, 2017 (UTC)
Well, no one's actually addressed it from that perspective before. Since we've always not included information where the Sims have no skills. It probably would be best to not continue adding that the Sims have no skills, although it would be a good idea to bring the issue up on a talk page. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 02:46, June 19, 2017 (UTC)
Okay, I won't do it any more. Thanks for letting me know. - Kai 12 (talk) 04:14, June 19, 2017 (UTC)

Capitalization in titlesEdit

Per your recent page move, note that on The Sims Wiki, titles should be written in sentence case, which means that letters should be written in lowercase unless it's always capitalized or if it's the first letter in a sentence. See The Sims Wiki:Manual of Style § Naming conventions. Hence, we write Skydiving simulator instead of "Skydiving Simulator", or Bubble bar instead of "Bubble Bar". —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 13:49, June 27, 2017 (UTC)

Making test edits to templateEdit

Hi Kai 12. I noticed you made some "test" edits to Template:GetCareerCat‎. In the future, please make test edits to templates on another page and test your changes there. For example, you can create Template:GetCareerCat‎/test, copy the contents of Template:GetCareerCat‎ over to that page, make your changes, and then test in the sandbox or a page in your userspace. This is important, since a mistake in a template can cause problems on thousands of pages potentially. Testing your changes before applying them ensures that as few mistakes get through as possible. Feel free to let me know if you need more help with templates. Thanks, —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 14:41, June 27, 2017 (UTC)

Also, with your recent edit to Template:GetTraitCat, you wound up having the template add every page that used "music lover" and before to Category:Music Lover Sims (A category that doesn't even exist). The template uses the #switch parser function, and the way you edited the template resulted in that gigantic mistake occurring. Like I said earlier, if you want to test or develop a template, it's probably best you create a "test" page for it and develop it there. In this case, you either had to use a "test" page for development, or complete the template all in one go. Please note that you should edit templates like this one very carefully, since one simple mistake can cause a lot of problems. If you need to save drafts of a template you're working on, you should never save it to the main template page. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 17:57, June 29, 2017 (UTC)

RE: Help with TemplatesEdit

{{GetTraitCat}} has now been updated. As for any pages that were affected, they should automatically be fixed and updated over time as the servers update their caches. If you see a page that still has this problem, try purging it. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 19:46, June 29, 2017 (UTC)
