What if I want to email you instead?

You should generally use this talk page to contact me in the vast majority of cases. Email should only be used for certain circumstances where public communication may not be desirable or possible. Examples of when you can email me include:

  • You are currently blocked from editing and your ability to edit your talk page has been revoked. You can email me to request an unblock, or to inform me that you are an innocent editor that has been autoblocked.
  • There is a revision on a page that you want removed from public view, because it is extremely offensive, defamatory, or reveals personal information. In cases like these, do not post it publicly, as we don't want the Streisand effect to add fuel to the fire.
  • Other personal matters. However, keep in mind that this isn't a social networking site, so don't treat emails as casual private messages in which you can spam me.

If you are receiving death threats from someone else, do NOT email me. Contact Wikia Staff, and if needed, your local police.

To send me an email, please use this form. Thanks.

FAQs
Answers to some of your questions, before we begin.
  • Q1. Do I need to ask for your permission to edit/create/upload/do something on this wiki?
  • A1. No.
  • Q2. Can I ask you to do something only administrators can do?
  • A2. By all means, feel free to ask. However, I would prefer if you post your request at the administrators' noticeboard.
  • Q3. Will you marry me?
  • A3. No.
  • Q4. Can I have your phone number/home address/private email/etc.?
  • A4. Unless I know you personally, no.
  • Q5. I pinged you on IRC and you ignored me. I even PM'd you, and you didn't respond! Why are you snubbing me?
  • A5. I'm on a bouncer, which allows me to stay connected to IRC even when I'm not online. Feel free to private message me, and provided the server the bouncer is on doesn't die on me, I'll get your messages the next time I come online.
  • Q6. I tapped you on chat and you didn't respond! Why are you snubbing me?
  • A6. I'm probably AFK (away from keyboard), so I can't see your message. I'll probably see it when I get back onto my computer. Do not send me multiple messages if I do not respond — it's not going to hurry the response.

Rollback nomination

Hi k6ka! Thank you for nominating me for rollback. I read the explanation and understand how it works. Now I'm wondering how much responsibility I would be assuming with this. I'm not quite sure yet whether I feel confident enough since I'm still learning English. Thank you and best wishes! Stella Terrano (talk) 22:45, February 12, 2017 (UTC)

Censorship

Hi, K6ka.

C.Syde65 recently removed a reply that I made to a thread from his archive, as can be seen here. I undid his edit, as I saw it as an inappropriate attempt at censorship. He then reverted my edit and protected the page. He is clearly abusing his powers to hide a part of the past that makes him uncomfortable. This should not be tolerated.

Can you deal with the situation by talking to C.Syde65 about this and restoring the reply that he removed?

Thanks,

Themasterofdenial (talk) 09:42, March 6, 2017 (UTC)

@ K6ka - Due to personal reasons, I do not wish for that reply to be restored. If you or another administrator really want to speak to me about my decision to do what I have just done, I would like to do so privately, as it is too sensitive to discuss publicly. Thanks. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 09:48, March 6, 2017 (UTC)

sockpuppet

Hello,

another sockpuppet vandalize the wiki User:Ultimate_C.Syde65

Wiryawan310 (talk) 14:54, March 12, 2017 (UTC)

VSTS blocked User:Ultimate_C.Syde65 for 1 month, i think changing his block to permanent is needed since that user impersonating another user in this wiki.
Fyi, this is the page he made in this wiki before get blocked: http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/User:Ultimate_C.Syde65/common.js

Unsigned template need fix?

Hello,

its look like something wrong about this template

example: —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wiryawan310 (talkcontribs) 20.00, Mar 13, 2017 (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~

as you can see, it has extra {{subst:#if:20.00, Mar 13, 2017|(UTC)}} behind the result. can you fix it? Wiryawan310 (talk) 14:12, March 13, 2017 (UTC)

about template, substituted, and transcluded... to be honest I totally forget about that, since almost 5 years I retired (and yes Im still retired now, only back if i have extra time) lol
thanks for the fix :) Wiryawan310 (talk) 16:10, March 13, 2017 (UTC)

Fanon cleanup

My first fanon had a message saying Fanon Cleanup, but I edited it so it fits in fanon. Can you please remove the tag? FanofGame (talk) 14:52, March 18, 2017 (UTC)

I have found out that Linie Talini does not have an infobox for personality. Can you add the content that is needed?FanofGame (talk) 15:42, March 18, 2017 (UTC)

Ditto Creeper Bot

Not sure if this changes anything, but despite the user's username, they aren't a bot, though it's pretty obvious how they came to be mistaken as such. Although I don't know the user very well, I know that they are a user on certain wikis, and they've also been on CCC and their behaviour is nothing like a bot. So basically their account is used like a regular account. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 09:48, March 19, 2017 (UTC)

Oh, right. I understand now. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 20:05, March 19, 2017 (UTC)

Problems editing fanon pages

Good Morning, K6ka. I have been having problems editing my fanon pages (via Fanon:Kiki May, Fanon:Harley Penn, and Fanon:Dahlia May), because the changes won't save after I publish them. IF you ever so happen get time, would you guide me through a fix for such? Thank You, have a good day! —Preceding unsigned comment added by IKyleSimis (talkcontribs) 14:08, April 10, 2017‎ (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~

Question regarding TS2

I have a question related to getting some NPCs to move in with a playable household in The Sims 2. So, I was trying to get a cow mascot to follow with the "Propose-Move In" option, but every time I do, the action simply disappears, and the cow will not move into the household.

What I wanted to try out is, making the cow selectable via "boolprop testingcheatsenabled true", getting her to use the computer and "find own place" so that she can be a playable character. Alternatively, I've also thought about tweaking some things in SimsPE, where she'll be with a playable household. But I'm not sure if either of these will cause some sort of game corruption, or if the game will automatically make another cow mascot after these bypasses. Would you happen to know if doing either one of these things are safe for TS2?

Now, I am well aware that adult sims outside of college can get a cow or llama mascot to move into the real world with the "Propose-Move In" option. But the thing was, I wanted the cow to stay in college and graduate. However, I will use this method if it's my last option.

Oh, I'm well aware that the mascots are overall safe to play as. I just wanted to know whether or not it was safe to make them selectable and use the computer or newspaper to find their own place, since they're not officially part of the household that I'm currently playing. As far as I'm concerned, making them selectable and saving the household like that will not actually add them to that household, and does not sound safe.

Fanon Pages

Hey! Sorry to bother you, but I'm new here and I'm a Sims fan (probably like everyone else here, but I could be wrong). I have seen Fanon pages where there are fake Sims made from different programs and was wondering if I could join in. Thank you!

Template:Object position changed?

I notice something wrong about Template:Object. in my browser, the template position now is on the left of the page instead on the right of the page. can you check is this happen to you too? Wiryawan310 (talk) 02:13, May 25, 2017 (UTC)

Hi.
The template itself is fine, and it works without problems on other pages. The problem you were seeing occurred on the Bathtub page; this happens because {{Object}} is a very complex template, and requires a lot of processing power to maintain itself. The MediaWiki software has technical limits that prevent pages from becoming too complicated, as very complex pages take a long time to parse, and use up a lot of server resources.
In simple terms, the template was used too many times on the page, making the page very complex and resource-intensive for the parser to render. The specific limit that was hit was the "Preprocessor node count", which measures how complex the page is. When this limit was exceeded, the parser simply stopped processing the rest of the page, inserting "Node-count limit exceeded" messages into the areas where it was supposed to parse information.
If you right-click on a page and select "View page source", you can find an HTML comment that has these technical limits, and how close the page was to hitting those limits. For the problematic revision in question, here's the report:
<!--
NewPP limit report
Preprocessor node count: 300892/300000
Post‐expand include size: 257111/2097152 bytes
Template argument size: 65729/2097152 bytes
Expensive parser function count: 24/100
-->
Note how the "Preprocessor node count" was at 300892, when the limit was 300000. When the page exceeded this limit, that's when the page broke as the parser refused to handle any more data.
The solution to this problem is to not use so many {{Object}} templates, or revise {{Object}} so that it's less complex. This is not the first time we've encountered this error, and you can see how it was solved on pages like Television and Bar (object).

Fanon Page Confusion

Hey! I'm new to this whole page editing thing, and I am interested in finding out how to get one of those boxes that tell a family's name, number of generations, net worth, etc. Sorry if this is a nobrainer that I am just missing. EricRex12 (talk) 15:30, May 25, 2017 (UTC)

New Template for Jobs

Hi. The job level descriptions in each job's page for Sims 4 is a bit of a mess, due to the html and css being in the page themselves. If I create a template to do this job, what should it be named? "Sims4Job", "SimsJob" or something else? Thanks.- Kai 12 (talk) 17:48, June 23, 2017 (UTC)

Capitalization in titles

Got it. It's just that every other job with two words was capitalized in both instances, so I thought that is the standard followed here. - Kai 12 (talk) 13:56, June 27, 2017 (UTC)
