Thank you Edit

Thank you for your contributions, particularly for the Garden Heights sim articles! Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 15:31, February 12, 2018 (UTC)

Thanks rose Thanks sunflower
Thank you! I'm planning on adding the sims from Arbor Falls either later today or tomorrow. Gvaudoin (talk) 16:32, February 12, 2018 (UTC)
Thanks so much for making these articles. It's great seeing another user making articles for Sims from the Sim 2 era stories games, especially since I only have life stories so I cannot make any articles of Sims from Pet Stories myself! :D ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 04:40, February 14, 2018 (UTC)

RE: About the Sims from the Sims Pet StoriesEdit

There are a total of 27 default Maxis face templates, and one hidden default Maxis face template. Pretty much all the townies from The Sims 2, Life Stories, Pet Stories, and Life Stories use default faces, except for Bella Goth (Strangetown), and most of the downtownies from Nightlife. Ian Curtin and Zeeshan Despret use the 25th Maxis face template called "Archcsla". This page may help you to tell each of the faces apart, except the 28th Maxis face template "Archalien", being hidden, isn't shown on the page. But the 27 face templates which aren't hidden, are. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 22:13, February 15, 2018 (UTC)

Yeah, they all have names. You can see their names by doing ctrl+shift+c and then typing in "boolprop testingcheatsenabled true" and then hitting enter, then going into Create a Sim, and then using Shift+N. That activates debug mode, and when you hover the mouse over each of the clothes, hairstyles, face templates etc, it should tell you what they are called. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 23:42, February 15, 2018 (UTC)

Tricou family imageEdit

I appreciate the changes you've made to the Tricou family image here, but would it be alright if I were to change it back to the original version of the image? Or maybe I could upload another copy of the image. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 22:47, February 25, 2018 (UTC)

That one you showed me on another wiki was used on this wiki as well, but I removed it, because Gvaudoin isn't wearing her canon hairstyle, and Nylissit doesn't wear a necklace by default, so I uploaded an image that displayed them in their canon appearances. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 23:21, February 25, 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, the quality of the image you showed me just now is about as good as the one that I uploaded. Your previous uploads were in poorer quality, probably because you had your Sim/Object Detail settings set to low. Am I correct? I have everything set to the highest quality, but I have my video settings set to medium, because the sound is muted when I have it set to high, and medium quality seems to be good enough anyway. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 23:57, February 25, 2018 (UTC)
I'm not sure to be honest. In some ways I'd still prefer to keep the original, but I guess it wouldn't be too much of a problem to have the most recent one that you presented. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 00:25, February 26, 2018 (UTC)
On second thought, I have no problems with you changing it. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 00:26, February 26, 2018 (UTC)
Nah, it's fine. You can re-upload it under the same name. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 00:30, February 26, 2018 (UTC)

TS4 Sim imagesEdit

Hey! I've seen that you have been adding pages about Sims from TS4 and its content packs. It is really appreciated, but I would like to say one thing. Could you possibly please use black backgrounds for the Sim portraits? They are preferred that way in here and would ease up the workload. Thanks. - SimDestroyer (talk) 18:10, November 27, 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading all of the images! They're a great addition to the wiki. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 23:14, February 27, 2019 (UTC)
That means a lot to me! I'm always happy to improve the wiki! :-) —Gvaudoin 💬 16:25, February 28, 2019 (UTC)

RE: Happy Christmas! Edit

Aw thank you so much, that's so kind of you to say! ♥️
With your comment problem, it should work if you hit the "reply" button on the first comment. Now it'll look like you're replying to yourself as you're writing the comment, but when you send it, it should appear underneath my comment! :)

Thank you! I hope you're having great holidays aswell and I wish you a great 2019! 🎉
- KailynnKat(talk/fanon) 23:14, December 26, 2018 (UTC)

Thank you so much for your kind words and also for your tip regarding the replies! I didn't know that but I'll make use of it in the future! —Gvaudoin 💬 22:45, December 27, 2018 (UTC)

RE: copy-pasting and consensusEdit

In terms of merging two pages, simply copying and pasting the content is not allowed, because the CC BY-SA license we use requires that attribution be provided to the authors of the text. The easiest way is to provide a link to the page you copied the text from in the edit summary of your edit. This is extremely important, since if you simply copy and paste the text without providing attribution, it is assumed to be your work (which isn't the case), which is a pretty serious violation of the license.

As for consensus, I don't see a consensus on the talk page; I just see one comment nodding their head about the proposed change and two additional comments that haven't been addressed yet. That's not consensus. There should be more input. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 02:52, June 4, 2019 (UTC)

Giant Will's head Edit

The version you uploaded last year seem to have bigger eyes than the one I have (which is just TS1MM GiantWill with TSO Will's eyes). Where did you get it? My Makin' Magic folder only has the "sleepy" version :( -- Ryo205 18:09, June 4, 2019 (UTC)

Discord Edit

I noticed you haven't joined the wiki's discord server yet. It'd be great to have another wikian there. :) Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 00:15, June 6, 2019 (UTC)

Small correctionEdit

I found out the "TSO Will Wright" (and by extension, the Makin' Magic one) are both based on a promotional set of skins by Maxis (for an EBWorld promotion), as seen here.

The other one with weird eyes (from the Spanish Sims Wikia) is probably a fanmade edit by someone who didn't even know official versions existed. -- Ryo205 20:32, July 11, 2019 (UTC)

TheSimsCharacterSet.exe Edit

Since the *.exe didn't work well for you, I've uploaded the extracted skins for Sim File Share. This set consists of 7 heads and 9 bodies (including Will Wright and Luc Barthelet). Previews included.

Link >>

The EA Sports outfit and Sid Meier's skins were shipped with The Sims Complete Collection, but all the others were left behind.

Please tell me if there are any problems. -- Ryo205 21:26, July 12, 2019 (UTC)

RE: Sims with gender customization Edit

Sorry I didn't see your post sooner; I'm not sure how it slipped past me. I feel like we should have some sort of a community vote over this idea before we go ahead and make the category. - ✨AireDaleDogz✨ (talk) 17:20, October 26, 2019 (UTC)

Nomination for content moderatorEdit

Hi, Gvaudoin. I wanted to let you know that I have nominated you for content moderator rights on The Sims Wiki.

In case you aren't already familiar, content moderators are equipped with tools that allow them to quickly roll-back vandalism with the 'rollback' tool, delete and un-delete pages, protect and un-protect pages, and edit pages that have been fully protected. These tools are largely meant to help address vandalism if or when it occurs, but they are also useful tools for experienced wiki editors to have on their toolbelts. I believe that you can put these new tools to good use if you are selected for this position.

I understand that you may have additional questions or concerns, or may want to take some time to consider your response. I encourage you to reach out to me or to any of the other content moderators, administrators, or bureaucrats regarding this position, and the rights and responsibilities attached to it. If after consideration you decide that you would like to decline the nomination, please know that it does not preclude you from being nominated for or for applying for the position at some point in the future.

Finally, please note that your nomination won't go forward for further consideration unless you formally accept the nomination; you can make your reply by following this link and responding there.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can tell you about the position or any way that I can assist you.

Hoping to hear from you soon,

-- LostInRiverview talk · blog · contribs 03:38, April 17, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the response back. Sorry for the late reply!
In regards to making mistakes... that's just a fact of life. All of us make mistakes from time to time. I haven't seen anything to suggest that you're more prone to making mistakes than anyone else. It should also be said that discussions about user promotions aren't popularity contests. You are meant to be judged based on whether you meet the criteria for the position, not on whether everything you've done on the wiki was popular with others. Additionally, "voting" on these promotions (for want of a better word) is based on the strength of a person's arguments in favor of or opposed to a candidate. If someone wants to oppose your candidacy, they have to back that opposition with evidence that you are unqualified or have done something wrong; simply opposing you based solely on personal opinion of you is a weak argument and won't stand to scrutiny. If your nomination is approved, of course any of the active admins and content mods, myself included, will be willing to give you advice or feedback.
Just a final note - if you are indeed accepting the nomination, you do have to formally accept it on the Requests for Moderatorship page. That acceptance starts the clock on the discussion. It's also customary for nominees or applicants to briefly tell others what they hope to do in the position and how they're a good fit for the role. It doesn't have to be a long message. After that, candidates might be asked questions by members of the community, so you should keep checking the page regularly to see if anyone has asked you anything.

Content Moderator requestEdit

I wanted to let you know that your content moderator rights nomination has been approved. Congratulations!

What now?

As you know, content moderator rights give you access to a few new tools to aid in the moderation of The Sims Wiki.

You have the ability to rollback vandalism on The Sims Wiki. To see how this tool works, as well as when it should and should not be used, review this page. Understand that the rollback tool should only be used to revert obvious cases of vandalism, because rolling-back an edit does not allow the use of an edit summary to explain why the rollback is taking place. 'Vandalism' refers only to deliberate, bad-faith attempts to harm the wiki; Rollback shouldn't be used to revert edits that aren't vandalism.

You have the ability to protect and unprotect pages on the wiki, as well as the ability to edit fully-protected pages. It is standard practice on The Sims Wiki to leave pages unprotected unless there is a specific reason for protecting them, and then only using the lowest amount of protection necessary, and protecting for the shortest period of time as needed.

Finally, you have the ability to delete and un-delete pages on the wiki. Be aware that the wiki has standards regarding how and when pages get deleted, usually dependent on whether or not the pages meet criteria for speedy deletion or not.

What if you need help?

Remember that the other moderators, administrators, and bureaucrats on the wiki are here to support you and assist you if you need it. If there's ever anything you're unsure or confused about, you can always reach out to one of us via our talk pages, on Discord, or even on the Admin Portal talk page.

Thank you for the work you've done so far on The Sims Wiki, and best of luck to you in your new role! -- LostInRiverview talk · blog · contribs 04:42, May 17, 2020 (UTC)
