Monthly Question - April 2015
Animated sims plumbbob
Hello again and welcome once again to this month's Monthly Question! Every month we'll be posting an opinion based question on The Sims series, and we want to hear your thoughts. Give us your opinions, ideas, complaints, or whatever else is on your mind, in relation to the question we'll ask everyone.

Additionally, we are also looking to recognize the best comments given by users; to that end, we are encouraging other users to award PlumbBobs to comments that are particularly positive for whatever reason. To give a PlumbBob to a comment, simply reply to the comment with {{PlumbBob}}.

This month's Question
If you were to choose between The Sims 2 or The Sims 3, what would you choose and why?

Thank you to Thatkitten for providing this month's question. As always if you have a suggestion for a future question, please leave them here.

Last month's Question

Last month we asked the community What do you think about the social media integration in the game, such as The Sims 4 and The Sims 3: Showtime? Should the feature be improved or scrapped entirely? Why?. Below are the top responses:

In my opinion its a bit of a waste but I can see how people would like it since you can share what you're doing with your friends. A little redundant given that you could just post it on twitter or whatever without integration, not to mention official forums. I know there was a memory system in TS3 which could be shared (which was also horribly implemented btw), I don't know if something like it exists in TS4. Ideally I'd like it to be non-intrusive and optional, which is often rare at least in TS3 which always bugs me to log into my thesims3.com account. I'd really prefer less time wasted on these things and more time on actual content.

I am of the opinion that the social media integration is an attempted substitute for more effort in contents and stuff (especially in light of Showtime's lackluster contents in general), and personally would love to see it killed with fire.

Sims 4 social media integration with the gallery and stuff is IMO a significant step forward compared to the Showtime (after all, sharing stuff online was in Sims 3 anyways and Sims 4 just made it more convenient), although it still feels like an attempted substitute for more contents and things, a feeling reinforced by the disappointing launch that required plenty of patching that added things that should be there in the first place. But then the real problem is the CC: Sims and CC are inseparable, and as long as CC support and sharing remains a barrier, no social media stuff will make a significant improvement.

Kill it with fire, spend time on other more meaningful things.

I think that the social media for Sims is a great thing, but it needs to be polished. The Sims 4 gallery and its other features was a good step in the right direction from Sims 3 (ARGH!...) and should be continued, but improved. What should actually be done to improve it is the question, but a few of my ideas are to connect it to Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites, to make it easier to make your sims into profile pictures and such on those sites, etc..
