Hello folks, it's time for the news again!

Sims News[]

  • Run your own restaurant. A new addition to The Sims 3 Store allows players to build and run their own restaurants. It's no OfB but it's a step in the right direction! You can read all about this new feature in this TS3 developers blog.
  • Island Paradise tops the charts again. The most recent UK gaming charts place Island Paradise in first place for overall sales. The Sims 3 base game fell from third to fifth, and University Life went from fourth to seventh. Another thing worth mentioning is further down the list, with TS3 Pets falling below Late Night, despite having been released a year after Late Night - Late Night and Pets are 18th and 19th on the charts, respectively. You can see the full chart here.
  • EA/Maxis staff exodus. Three senior-level staff involved in EA and Maxis have left EA to start up a new game studio called Jellygrade. These staff are Andrew Willmott, Dan Moskowitz, and Ocean Quigley. All three have been involved in the development of numerous Maxis games, including SimCity (2013), Spore, The Sims 2 and SimCity 4. Ocean Quigley, the most well-known of the trio, gave an interview shortly after the departure announcement, in which he stated, "[I] was dismayed at the blundered launch of something that I had poured so much love and attention into," speaking on the rocky release of SimCity earlier this year. More info on this story and Jellygrade can be found here.
  • Live Broadcast is coming up. In anticipation of the July 23rd Live Broadcast, The Sims Facebook page has posted the first screenshot from the upcoming The Sims 3: Into the Future expansion pack. You can check out the Facebook post here, or check in during the broadcast next week (starting Tuesday at 10:00am PDT / 17:00 UTC). Topics of discussion are set to include Into the Future and more information on the upcoming The Sims 4 presentation at Gamescon.
