The merger discussion was started a little over a week ago, and so far has been viewed positively by the editors on the Freeplay wiki. However, a wiki merger is a relatively big event for a wiki, so it's important that both communities—The Sims Wiki, and The Sims Freeplay Wiki—be supportive of a merger before it is carried out. I urge all editors of The Sims Wiki to participate in the discussion as soon as possible.
A possible sticking point is the fact that, if the wikis merge, the current active administrators of The Sims Freeplay Wiki would also be given administrative rights on this wiki. This arrangement would violate The Sims Wiki's policies regarding how administrators are selected and promoted, and so would require community support in order to override the policy. Again, this cannot happen unless editors participate in the discussion.
I want to stress to everyone, especially those who have never participated in a wiki discussion, that all opinions are respected and valid, whether you have 10 or 10,000 edits on the wiki. If you edit The Sims Wiki regularly, semi-regularly, or just once in a blue moon, you are part of our community and we want to hear your voice.
Note that the merger discussion does not have any sort of timer or timeframe for when it will conclude, so if you want to participate in the discussion, please do so as soon as you can.
As always, you can reach out to me or another administrator if there are any questions or concerns. -- LostInRiverview talk · blog · contribs 06:06, April 29, 2020 (UTC)
