Get Together Bonfire
August 2018 Community News

Welcome to this ever-so-slightly early edition of The Sims Wiki's community news blog. (I'd just like to point out, it's not like we were ever following a strict schedule) Without any further ado, let's get right into what's happened this past month, and what's coming up!

The Sims Wiki finally gets with the times—if it were 2012, that is...

The Sims Wiki is now on Instagram! We're so edgy and innovative, I know! The thanks go to Beds (talk) for suggesting that we create an account there, and she was gracious enough to set it up for us. If you're a member of Instagram, be sure to follow us there. Also, don't be afraid to suggest things for us to post. As you can maybe tell by now, we're not exactly rock stars at this whole "keeping up with social media" thing.

While we're on the subject of social media, don't forget to also follow us on Facebook and Twitter, if you're so inclined to have accounts on those platforms. One pretty solid guarantee by following us; you definitely won't get spammed with frequent updates.

Man, someone should really start posting more stuff...

We've got a shiny new garbage can!

Keeping up with the string of exciting news, The Sims Wiki has a new venue for discussing page deletions. This isn't exactly an earth-shattering change, and it's something we've been talking about doing for quite a while now. The main impact for members of the wiki is that deletion discussions will be taking place on their own unique pages (for easy linking and archival); the actual deletion discussion process is largely unchanged.

Also look forward to some changes to how the wiki handles and classifies "speedy deletions". K6ka (talk) has been hard at work, rolling out some new speedy deletion templates, and working on refining a new list of Speedy Deletion criteria. There's no hard timeline on when these changes will take place, but we'll keep you posted!

Some personnel changes

We've got some good news and some bad news regarding two users on The Sims Wiki. Firstly, long-time editor AireDaleDogz (talk) has gained a new role as a rollbacker on the wiki; congratulations to them! Second, sadly, Waikikamukow (talk) has chosen to step down as administrator on The Sims Wiki due to their extended absence from the wiki. She was an administrator here from March 2013 to July 2018. We want to give a warm thank you to Kelly for her hard work and contributions while she was a part of the admin team, and we all hope we'll still get to see more of her on TSW in the future!

Contractually-obligated Discord reference
Did you know The Sims Wiki is on Discord? You didn't? Well, you must not read any of our news blogs! As you should know by now, Discord is a multi-platform online text and voice chat service—imagine Internet Relay Chat had a baby with Mumble or TeamSpeak. Many of your favorite TSW personalities are on the server chatting nearly every day, and you can be too! Follow the link at the top of this section to join the server or, if you don't already have a Discord account, follow this link to create one! You can also join the server by using this fancy widget.

If you see this, JavaScript might be disabled in your browser or the DiscordIntegrator plugin isn't working. If it's the latter, please contact an administrator.
