February 2019 Community News
Welcome to the February 2019 edition of The Sims Wiki Community News! k6ka here as your beloved... host... as we welcome Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day, and the Year of the Pig this month.
Back in December I wrote about how we proposed a formal request to have the highly unpopular Featured Video feature disabled on the wiki. The relevant forum thread is still open, but in the meantime I have created a template called {{Featured video notice}} which displays a notice below articles where a featured video is known to exist, telling readers that the video was not approved by the community of The Sims Wiki, that it is not created by the community members, and it may not accurately describe the subject of the article. Unfortunately, with Wikia/FANDOM being incredibly out-of-tune with their communities, it's unlikely that they'll listen to us, but that will not stop us from trying. Down with all Featured Videos!
The Juliette Capp article has been selected to be the featured article for the month of February 2019! For those unfamiliar with the "featured article" designation, it is a title we give to select articles that reflect the finest content on the wiki, chosen based on their readability and the amount of information they contain. Featured articles are not chosen by a secretive cabal, but by the members of the wiki community as a whole—people like you! To nominate or vote for an article, read the instructions here, and then either make a nomination or vote for an existing one. Yep, go ahead and do it!
You may have heard of Discord, an increasingly popular program used for communicating via text and voice chat over the Internet in real time. Although primarily used by gamers, it is also used by millions of users for other purposes as well, and has seen increasing use as a multi-purpose instant messaging tool that beats Skype and TeamSpeak in too many ways to count. Discord is completely free to use and free to get into, and The Sims Wiki has adopted the use of Discord to help engage the wiki community. You can read about the Discord server the wiki operates here, and if you're ready to join, click the "Click here" button below.
If you see this, JavaScript might be disabled in your browser or the DiscordIntegrator plugin isn't working. If it's the latter, please contact an administrator.

- Updates to the server
- The #content channel has been renamed to #articles to make its purpose clearer.
- Everyone can now upload images and files to the server. Before this, you had to have the "Trusted User" role in order to do this. Share your Simming photos away! ...Just keep it safe for work.
- The TTS command can no longer be used. Previously it was restricted to users with the "Trusted User" role, but has been revoked due to abuse. Sorry.
- New blargbot custom commands:
lemonade
andisupme
. Typeb!help <command name>
in any channel the bot is in (preferably #spammerland) to see how to use them.
If you have any other suggestions as to how we can improve the server, please let us know in the #server_feedback channel on the server!
- Do not lick on polls. I mean poles. Because your tongue will get stuck on it.
