The Sims 3: Seasons[]
Once bought in Buy Mode, they are intended to be moved to a Sim's inventory, who will then be able to use while walking outdoors. They can become tattered and rendered useless after several uses; Sims with at least level 6 in the handiness skill or witches with level 3 or higher spellcasting skill can upgrade umbrellas to become unbreakable or alternatively to glow.
Using an umbrella slightly increases the chance for being struck by lightning.
