Logo

It'd be great if the Team had a logo that could be used on the FPRT pages and maybe on the request template. - LostInRiverview ^{talk • blog • contribs} 00:02, April 25, 2015 (UTC)

Ok, after trying and trying to get the correct color of the text, and the style of the font, I finally made it. The font's style is nothing like the original wiki logo, but I've attempted to have the colors the same as the wiki logo. And also the lower text uses the same writing style for TS4, any notes about it?

Rewriting the Fanon Creation page

One of the nefarious reasons I proposed the FPRT was so that team could serve as a lead on fanon-related issues on the wiki. Here is one such instance:

Take a look at The Sims Wiki:Fanon Creation. This is the page we direct people to who are just getting ready to start working on their own fanon. When I look at this page, I feel like it could be written better and made more interesting for people, especially newbies who might be overwhelmed by all that writing fanon entails. To that end, I'm wondering if anyone else shares my thoughts here.

I decided to try my hand at writing up a new introduction for the page (which I'll paste below), but I'd really like to keep going with the initiative and re-write the whole page to make it more reader friendly. What does everyone think of this?

Welcome to The Sims Wiki's fanon namespace! We're looking forward to seeing your Sims fanon join our library of excellent fanon and fan fiction content. But, before you start publishing your works, we have a few pointers for you, as well as some rules and guidelines that you should be aware of. After all, The Sims Wiki is an encyclopedia about The Sims series, and while we welcome fanon content and encourage editors to be creative in contributing their content, our main mission is to preserve and develop the canon information. Because of this, we do have a few definite policies that we do enforce regularly. We try to make these rules as easy to follow and understandable as possible. Our goal is to make sure that you are able to create your excellent fanon content without negatively affecting other content on the wiki.

(Two cents) Looks good. I'd probably suggest using shorter paragraphs (so it doesn't look overwhelming) and colorful {{Metabox}} templates to denote important information, such as how to correctly use the {{Property}} template or what not to do with a fanon. --I am k6ka ^{Talk to me!} _{See what I have done} 02:06, April 25, 2015 (UTC)

Looks friendlier than the previous version. I'd consider writing something up about reasons a user's fanon may be deleted and what to do in such a situation as well. See if you can throw in something about using defaultsort tags in there as well so I don't have to add them to 500 pages again any time soon. ―ฬђ ^talk 02:09, April 25, 2015 (UTC)

@K6 that's just the introduction. Most people gloss over that either way :p But I do agree, definitely will require copious use of colorful templates to point out important information.

I'll admit that I didn't realize that there was anything for sorting when I first started writing fanons, so I think it would be something good to explain with the property template as well. Language proficiency requirement

Since this is a Peer Review Team for English-language fanons, wouldn't it make sense if members had to have proficiency in English? Say, Babel level 3, at least? ―The Tim Man ^{(Infinite Histories • Galactic Crucibles • The Sims Wiki • Contribs)} 09:34, April 25, 2015 (UTC)

The babel template is not really that accurate since two users with the same abilities could rate themselves differently. While they might not be able to help as much with grammar and spelling they'd still be able to help with layout and style issues and providing ideas. I'd like to not have this as a requirement and simply trust that users don't provide grammar checks if they don't feel they are confident in the language, and they'd stick to other things they could do to help. ―ฬђ ^talk 11:44, April 25, 2015 (UTC)
