As Nikel23 has said in the talk page of this article, this page doesn't really have any reasons to be separate from the Skill article, which already has a list of skills in TS4, plus other games as well. I do NOT believe this page should be deleted. It's redundant when looking at skills as a whole, but easier to see when looking for just the Sims 4 skills. The Skill article is very messy. -Annie (Guest) 12:50 PM, March 24, 2020

- It's less about the exact information and more about the presentation of the information. The Skills page (as a general, series-wide page) packs a lot of information into a couple of tables that are nice to see as far as comparing the skills across the games, but can be pretty tedious to work with when focusing on one game--with Sims 4 being the latest one, it's particularly annoying, because it's the one most affected by design changes. Creativity went from being a full skill in the early games to being a Child skill, so it's in Regular Skills while the rest are in Other Skills. A few toddler skills have had name changes, so they aren't alphabetically where you'd expect them to be, and for some reason, sorting by Ascending Skill then Ascending The Sims 4 doesn't put the Sims 4 skills in alphabetical order like you would expect. You can find the full list of Child and Toddler skills in their respective pages, but not quickly-found bullets. They're just inline lists mid-paragraph. The List of Skills page just has everything nice and alphabetized and categorized and not bogged down by outside information, and with it just being the one game, they added the icons which is just an appealing touch.
It's not a necessity--I wouldn't stop using the Wiki/Fandom if you got rid of the page-- but it's a nice thing to have. On the other hand, I appreciate and respect that it's not my work or resources.
Ultimately, I feel that if you need to cut down on the number of pages for any limit reasons (or other back-end issues) or you don't have someone that enjoys/wants to keep the page updated, I can understand deleting it. But, if it's just a routine decluttering situation, I think it's worth keeping.--Ditehart (talk) 23:45, May 21, 2020 (UTC)

- I strongly disagree with deleting this page... Users searching for information on this site are not looking for a curated museum exhibit about skills through the history of the sims. If a user wants to know how to get Violin skill in TS3, that user doesn't need to know the state of Violin skill in TS1, TS2, or TS4, they need to know what store item to buy in TS3. If a user wants to learn about Wellness skill in TS4, they don't need to know Yoga and Meditation were hidden skills in TS2, they need to see which furnishings have interactions that will increase wellness skill. I'd rather see the general skill page itself dismantled and made into a disambiguation page pointing to a page for each numbered title that's more useful to users seeking that information. - I wouldn't be in favor of "dismantling" the Skill page, but I do see the point of splitting articles. What you describe is what we have tried to do for other topics in the past, so it stands to reason that this page exists for similar reasons. I am not in favour of the deletion of this page, this page unlike the Skills page targets the Sims 4, it is an ideal resource for all Sims 4 players, the Skills page is only useful for comparing editions, and if the players of Sims 4 do not have or do not play the Sims, Sims 2 or Sims 3, then the Skills page is confusing and easily overwhelming, this page should be linked to from the Skills page specifically for Sims 4 players. I agree that the page shouldn't be deleted, the Skill page is too bare-bones, lacking a useful description of what the skills do... Merging them could be acceptable though... though honestly, I'd rather have a page like this for each of the games SabSparrow (talk) 15:56, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
Conclusion[ | ]
I would not say that this discussion has been resolved one way or the other. However, as the page was nominated for deletion two years ago, and the discussion started a year ago, and there hasn't been any substantive contributions to the discussion in over two months now, I think on the whole the best thing to do is to wrap this as inconclusive. Under the rules, an inconclusive outcome means the article is kept. However, if a user feels the article still warrants deletion, they can re-nominate the article and start a new discussion. -- LostInRiverview talk · blog · contribs 21:53, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
