The Sims Steering Committee refers to a 1998 prototype of The Sims, developed by Maxis for the Steering Committee at Electronic Arts. The build was compiled on June 4, 1998, over a year and a half before the final version of the game. It was leaked online on October 27, 2023.[1]
In contrast to the mainline Sims games, the prototype focuses on a singular storyline between the characters of Ross, Mercedes and Samantha in Happy Acres, spanning four levels. It does not include Create-A-Sim.
Despite not being officially released, the prototype's setting and principal characters were featured in the teaser trailer of The Sims.
