The Sims 4 Create A Sim Demo was a demo for The Sims 4, where only the Create a Sim function was available. Initially released in mid-July 2014 as a closed beta, it was made openly available on Origin on August 12, 2014, around a month before the full game's release. The demo was later also released on Steam on August 4, 2020.[3]
After The Sims 4 became free-to-play on October 18, 2022, the demo is no longer available on Steam for players who had not downloaded the demo previously (since Steam's pages for games do not accommodate for "Download Demo" buttons on free-to-play games' pages), and it is not known to be on EA App for players who had not downloaded the demo previously either.
Differences from the released game[]
- Only the young adult life stage option was available.
- Features that were added to Create a Sim or changed in patches were not available, including:
- Players couldn't customize the gender, sexual orientation, or pronouns of a Sim.
- Players couldn't customize a Sim's teeth, fingernails, toenails, body hair, medical wearables, or scars.
- Ghosts couldn't be created.
- Only 18 skin tones, 18 eye colors, and 18 hair colors were available.
- Likes and dislikes were unavailable.
- Create a Sim Stories were unavailable.

The demo was called The Sims 4: Create A Sim Demo with a colon in a YouTube announcement video,[4] and as The Sims 4 Demo (Create a Sim) in a Steam announcement post.[3]
