The Sims 4: Realm of Magic is the eighth game pack for The Sims 4. It was officially announced during EA Play on June 8, 2019 and its trailer premiered on August 20, 2019. It was released on September 10, 2019 on PC/Mac and was released on October 15, 2019 for consoles. The focus of the pack is magic, and includes a new life state, spellcasters, and a new world, Glimmerbrook. Spellcasters can also acquire familiars. It is a spiritual successor to The Sims: Makin' Magic, The Sims 2: Apartment Life and The Sims 3: Supernatural.

Official description[]

Explore a supernatural world and master the art of wizardry in The Sims™ 4 Realm of Magic. This countryside town may look and feel like other neighborhoods, but once the secret portal is unlocked, the true magic begins. Potions, wands, and even a floating world will charm your Sim, but beware of spells gone wrong! Learn the craft of wizardry, summon a familiar for protection, and immerse yourself in this spellbinding realm.

Discover the Neighborhood – An unreal world awaits your Sim, and when you stumble upon the secret portal, there are mystical discoveries at every turn. Interact with familiars, cast spells on Sims around you, and concoct potions for friends and enemies.

Learn the Craft – Study up on classic teachings, get sorcerous experts to train your Sim, and become a Spellcaster by completing a quest. Collect and cast spells to make Sims fight, conjure food, or even turn others into objects. Create drinkable potions to make Sims fall in love, remove unwanted curses, or live forever!

Get Real Familiar – An ethereal familiar – or protector — will help your Sim become the Spellcaster they were destined to be. Summon a dragon, fairy, or the familiar that best suits your Sim’s personality as a personal guard and give it a creative name.

Dress for Supernatural Success – Get in the spirit of sorcery with outfits that suit your Sim. Over-the-top attire is cauldron-ready, while a subdued ensemble is perfect for casting new spells. Collect wands and brooms to finish the look, then decorate rooms with enchanting objects.

New features[]

World and neighborhoods[]

The pack includes a new world named Glimmerbrook, a residential mountainous forest world. It also features a portal into a separate floating fantasy-like neighborhood, The Magic Realm, where magic NPCs live. In this world, you can go to shops to buy brooms, magic books, and new wands.

Spellcasters[]

Main article: Spellcaster

A new life statespellcaster—is introduced. They are largely similar to witches from previous games, in that they can learn magic spells and brew potions. Similar to vampires or werewolves in The Sims 4, spellcasters have a variety of skills and abilities they can unlock as they progress through a rank system. They are also the first occult in The Sims 4 to not have a secondary form. If the Paranormal Stuff pack is installed, spellcasters will gain the medium skill faster than other sims.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first purely magic-focused pack since The Sims: Makin' Magic, as magic was a secondary theme in The Sims 2: Apartment Life and The Sims 3: Supernatural.
  • The three-week gap between the pack's announcement (August 20, 2019) and its release (September 10, 2019) is the longest wait-time for a game pack to date.
  • Realm of Magic is the final content-pack for The Sims 4 to support 32-bit (PC) and non-metal (Mac) systems. The next pack for the game (Discover University) ceases support for them.
  • This is the only occult-themed game pack for The Sims 4 that does not share the same name as its occult, like The Sims 4: Vampires or The Sims 4: Werewolves.
  • The song featured in the official trailer is "Blood In The Cut" by K.Flay.
