Sit Back and Relax. Welcome to Sulani, where the sun shines bright and the nights are totally chill. Set sail on the glistening water in your island canoe, swim to your heart’s content, and explore the scenery on a watercraft. Build a spectacular sand castle, catch some rays and even meet a mermaid!

Pitch In or Help Out. Become a conservationist, clean up the beaches and watch your Sims’ impact bloom all over the island. Mermaids have similar needs to normal Sims, but replace the Hygiene need with a new need, Hydration. In order to maintain this need, a mermaid Sim can go swimming (either in the ocean or a swimming pool), shower, bathe or take a drink of water. In exchange for this restriction, mermaids have the ability to influence the moods and actions of other Sims with various Siren Songs, most of which deplete Hydration. While swimming in the ocean, mermaids also have the ability to summon an azure dolphin. Azure dolphins function identically to regular dolphins, save for the ability to summon them anywhere.

Mermaids also respond to the Ordinary Conch, an item found while Diving for Shells. If a conch shell is blown, mermaids in the area will make dolphin noises.

  • This is the second expansion pack for The Sims 4 to include a playable life state, the first being The Sims 4: Get to Work.
  • Island Living was supposed to be the first content pack for The Sims 4 to be compatible only with 64-bit operating systems. However, SimGuruDuke later confirmed in Twitter that the legacy edition has been postponed to allow everyone to play the expansion and that Island Living still supports 32-bit.[3] 32-bit support was finally dropped with the release of Discover University.
  • This is the first expansion pack for The Sims 4 to not have a launch trailer as well as being the first to not release a launch trailer since The Sims 2: Apartment Life.
  • It is the first pack for The Sims 4 to have announced its PC and console release dates simultaneously. 
  • Thirteen days elapsed between the pack's announcement (June 8) and its release (June 21), making it the shortest wait time for a Sims 4 expansion pack thus far.
  • This is the first expansion pack for The Sims series to feature a tropical world without hotels or resorts. The Sims: Vacation introduced hotels and campgrounds with Vacation Island, The Sims 2: Bon Voyage's Twikkii Island had hotels and holiday homes, and The Sims 3: Island Paradise allowed players to own and stay at resorts in Isla Paradiso.
