The Sims 4: For Rent is the fifteenth expansion pack for The Sims 4. It was first hinted at in the official "Get Busy" roadmap,[1] and further information was leaked in a tweet[2] a week before the official trailer announcement. The pack was released on December 7th, 2023 on all platforms.
For Rent introduces residential rental houses which can be created with multiple areas to make multi-family dwellings that can be rented, bringing back customizable apartment buildings and the ability to place them in other worlds. Sims are able to become property owners, rent out their apartments to other Sims, and deal with their tenant's troubles. The expansion contains new social activities, games for children, and ways to be mischievous. It reintroduces ocean swimming, with other water related activities included in Tomarang, a new world inspired by Southeast Asia. This expansion is a spiritual successor to The Sims 2: Apartment Life.

The New Lot Type in Town
New Residential Rental lots give you the chance to get creative with multi-family dwellings. Give your Sims a basement suite to rent out, create a duplex to keep two families close, or even build apartments.
Property Management
Property Owner Sims can be present, living among their tenants, or they can live in a separate residence while generating income from several property investments. If property owners don’t keep their Unit Ratings high, they could face a Tenant Revolt.
Closer Than Ever
Closeness can create harmony – or drama! Sims in Residential Rentals will get tangled up in each other’s lives. They’ll socialize at potlucks, meet in the garden, and have opportunity to discover each other’s secrets by eavesdropping and snooping.
Bustling and Beautiful
Explore a new world that’s alive with possibilities. Visit the botanical garden and discover an animal sanctuary! One of the most iconic scenes Tomarang has to offer is the Night Market where your Sims will discover new foods and unique objects.

Night market in Morensong, Tomrang
The Sims 4: For Rent features a new world named Tomarang, heavily inspired by Southeast Asia, characterized by dense living and close-knit communities with vibrant social activities. It has two neighborhoods with a total of 9 lots: Morensong, the downtown district of the world, which is also home to the night market that opens daily from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.; and Koh Sahpa, a lush tropical neighborhood spread across several islands, home to the Sulea Tiger Sanctuary and Beard Beard Cave, where Sims can explore and learn about the world’s lore.
Residential Rentals[]

Players are able to make their own apartment buildings through the use of residential rentals. This new lot assignment allows for full customization, with the ability to choose the sizes of units that can be rented by families to allow multiple families to live on the same lot. Any lot can be turned into a residential rental, allowing for the use of living in apartments outside of San Myshuno[TS4:CL] and Evergreen Harbor.[TS4:EL]

Sims can have a business of purchasing and renovating multiple residential rentals to rent out to other Sims. By doing so, Sims become a landlord and can look out for the needs of their tenants. This includes fixing broken objects, cleaning the apartment building or dealing with mold and insect infestations.
Close Living[]

Living close together allows Sims to participate in new social events, such as potlucks and pool parties. There is also an element of secrecy in that Sims living in apartments can eavesdrop on conversations, snoop around Sims, and break into other units in order to find out their secrets, which they could potentially use as blackmail material for money.

- Sims who are obnoxiously oblivious and oftentimes met with polarizing reactions. Cringe Sims can be socially unaware of their surroundings at times, but have an adorable enthusiasm for life.
- These Sims love feeling anchored to their community and Tomarani culture. Keeping in touch with loved ones and engaging in activities that remind them of home is important for being Happy.

- A Sim who’s experienced enough of life to know what really matters. These Sims enjoy reminiscing and sharing life’s wisdom, making them excellent Mentors for those willing to listen. Their years of experience allow them to naturally learn new Skills with ease, and their emotional intelligence reduces their angry and uncomfortable thoughts.
