The Sims 4: Businesses & Hobbies is the eighteenth expansion pack for The Sims 4. The title was leaked a days beforehand on the EA App but was officially announced via the "Motherlode Season" roadmap on socials.[1] The reveal trailer premiered on February 6, 2025 and the expansion launched March 6, 2025.
This expansion includes being able to create small businesses as a form of custom businesses from previous packs. These small business can allow for many venues such as art centers, tattoo parlors, candy shops, gyms, and pottery shops. Sims can also develop mastery perks from attending lecture classes and even help others by teaching others knowledge of their skills within the Scandinavian-inspired world of Nordhaven. This expansion is a spiritual successor to The Sims 2: Open for Business, The Sims 2: FreeTime, and The Sims 3: Ambitions.

Open Your Dream Business
Explore the Small Business system. Create a fulfilling small business for your Sim, like selling crafts or services. Use the selection tool to set up a workspace. Charge customers with the Ticket Kiosk. Hire family or others.

Make Your Mark
Master the Tattooing skill to give Sims custom tattoos, unlocking stamps and stencils as you level up. Create designs in Tattoo Paint Mode, layer tattoos, and share or browse in the Gallery for more.

Mold Your Future
Improve your Pottery skill to unlock designs like tea sets and planters. Use the Pottery Kiln for glazing. At higher levels, practice Kintsugi to craft art from broken ceramics.

World and Neighborhood[]
Businesses & Hobbies includes the Scandinavian world of Nordhaven. This world is highly inspired by Sweden and other Nordic countries with its towns around canals and surrounded by mountainous regions. This world also includes hobby meetups which are unique festivals Sims can opt into for meeting up with Sims to socialize and practice their hobbies and skills. This world also includes a shady individual who can be found in an alleyway who has lots of "legitimate" items for sale.
Small Businesses[]
Small businesses are a new type of Business which allows for full customizability of business activities and employee behaviours. This business allows for players to register a unique name, icon, and description for a business and assigning business tasks for customers to fulfil such as buying items, serving drinks, using computers, attending classes, etc. small businesses can also can operate on a home lot or a community lot.
Small businesses also have renown and alignments, renown is the fame of the small business which is dictated by their quality of service and reviews left behind by customers, the higher the renown the more owners of small businesses can earn more money and more customers to also spend perk points on business perks to further add additional ways of earning money and keeping customers happy. Alignment is also something that influences certain events that happen to their small business dependent on if they're a Dreamer, or a Schemer.
Skills & Hobbies[]
Sims can now partake in a few new hobbies; Pottery allows Sims to craft ceramic creations such as vases, pots, tea sets, candle holders, and more, and Tattooing allows for an immersive way for Sims to acquire tattoos, be able to place them in layers, as well as creating custom tattoos. Sims can also utilize a candy machine to make cotton candy, lollipops, and jellybeans. When Sims have maxed their skills and continue using them, they could develop skill mastery perks which grand extra bonuses to activities. Also now with mentoring, Sims can get paid for their service of mentoring other Sims.
Classes & Lectures[]
Using the new Whiteboard, Sims can now do lectures for any skill they are decently levelled in. When starting a lecture it will initiate an event where Sims can appear and join in and develop the skill being lectured. Within small businesses when a whiteboard is available, classes can be taught which are a social event that Sims can start where Sims are required to use objects and other interactions with Sims to help them boost skills, the progress of a class is how well the class teacher gets paid and also how good of a class they believe it was and likeliness to return.
