==Rename page to "Season"==
  +
So this has been bugging me for more than a decade. This article is talking about seasons, i.e. spring, summer, fall, and winter. Weather is rain, sunny, fog, hail, etc., but all these are covered under [[precipitation]]. My proposals are:
  +
#Rename "weather" to "season".
  +
#Rename "precipitation" to "weather".
  +
  +
My points are below:
  +
*Season affects weather, but season is not weather per se.
  +
*I think "precipitation" is an uncommon term, whereas "weather" is more generic and widely used. "Weather" also covers more phenomenon, as describing sunny or fog in "precipitation" doesn't seem appropriate.
  +
*It seemed that we used to avoid "season" to also avoid the confusion with ''Seasons'' EP. Honestly, this is very obsolete already and EA has already made us confused with TS3 and TS4 having the same EP names, so this is basically pointless now. Consider that we have ''Pets'' expansion while having "[[pet]]" page, but we never call them "domestic animal" as an alternative.

TS3:S Weather[]

Soon after The Sims 3: Seasons is released, I'm inclined to create a new page for TS3:S Weather. The content in this page is already detailed enough for TS2:S and I'm sure it will be entirely messed up if TS3:S Weather gets clogged up here as well. Nikel Talk Vote! 04:21, October 13, 2012 (UTC)

From what I gather of TS3:Seasons, the weather in it won't be much different than the weather in TS2:Seasons. That said, what might be best is to rearrange this page in a different manner once the TS3 ep comes out, but for now I say we wait and see what the new EP brings. -- LiR speak ~ read 05:30, October 13, 2012 (UTC)
It would be better to have a separate page. Heck, I'll be confused if the info from TS3 Seasons is mixed with TS2 Seasons. And I wonder if we can have separate pages for each seasons, but it may be better if the seasons info will be all combined to a page and be called "Season(s) (The Sims 3)", then the weather info combined to "Weather (The Sims 3)", as there are five weather types.12:43, November 14, 2012 (UTC)
Hmm, I suppose it's not a bad idea to have separate page of each season, and then merge both EP features there (much simpler than having each season page for each EP), while this article is enough to summarize information about seasons. I'm not sure, however, if we can make a page under "Season(s)" title, because all along we've tried to separate the "Season" term into "Weather," because otherwise it might be pretty confusing if someone is looking for an EP or feature instead. Nikel Talk Vote! 12:53, November 14, 2012 (UTC)
Well, to be honest, Weather is different from Seasons (for TS3 Seasons) because weather basically talks about the types of weather (rain, sunny, etc) and what are the effects while season talks about the changes every year using weather. That's why "Season(s)" is a perfect name for the page. ah I don't know how to explain but I think this web link will.
Probably it's common sense for someone to know what "Season" does he want to know. But maybe we can make a disambiguation page of all things "Season".13:33, November 14, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm aware of the difference. Maybe we should consider about renaming here... Nevertheless, the actual weather (rain, snow, hail) has been covered in precipitation, but we can change it too. Climate? Hmm, I don't think there's a major point of climate throughout The Sims series. I'd like to know if others agree with the name change. Nikel Talk Vote! 17:39, November 16, 2012 (UTC)
Ignore the climate part. heh. We'll be focusing on weather and seasons. 09:15, November 19, 2012 (UTC)

Turning On/Off[]

Hi, I'm interested in the Sims 3 Seasons, and I was curious if the weather system had an 'on' and 'off' switch. Does it?Kajune (talk) 22:38, March 30, 2013 (UTC)

Yes. You can turn off what Season and precipitation may occur. You can have snowless, neverending Winter in your neighborhood if you want to, for example. Nikel Talk Vote! 05:09, March 31, 2013 (UTC)

Sims 2: Desert Town(s)[]

I was wondering if the weather affect the desert town like Strangetown or my custom made town, Like there is snow in winter in desert but not in real life, or something. Is effect weather in desert town than other town (Grass, Lush, Concreate)?  Sims3Fan33333 (talk) 15:48, June 26, 2013 (UTC)

Well, you can control what season will occur in your neighborhood by using the Season Chooser (the button at the top of the screen in neighborhood view). You can set it to always summer. Nikel Talk Vote! 15:53, June 27, 2013 (UTC)

Weather in The Sims Vacation[]

Regarding the part about the climates on Vacation Island, it's important to note that Weather is not the same as Climate. Weather is short-term, climate is long-term. Weather is unpredictable, climate is very predictable. Should this still be on the "Weather" page or should we split it to Climate? --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 14:48, October 10, 2014 (UTC)

I don't think an article on Climate would be needed, as the main article on Vacation Island covers it pretty well. That Vacation has climate, but not weather, may be worth a brief mention, but no more. Dharden (talk) 15:33, October 10, 2014 (UTC)
May as well have it here, since clothing + weather temperatures have a similar effect in the later games and is also explained in the article. If we're keeping a mention in, we should leave the rest of the paragraph in since it's not very long. A seperate Climate article for three lines of text is pretty redundant. Come to think of it, we could probably better relate it to the article by mentioning that weather is strangely absent from Vacation Island (no snowfall in the cold climate, for example). --Dorsal Axe (talk) 15:43, October 10, 2014 (UTC)

Rename page to "Season"[]

So this has been bugging me for more than a decade. This article is talking about seasons, i.e. spring, summer, fall, and winter. Weather is rain, sunny, fog, hail, etc., but all these are covered under precipitation. My proposals are:

  1. Rename "weather" to "season".
  2. Rename "precipitation" to "weather".

My points are below:

  • Season affects weather, but season is not weather per se.
  • I think "precipitation" is an uncommon term, whereas "weather" is more generic and widely used. "Weather" also covers more phenomenon, as describing sunny or fog in "precipitation" doesn't seem appropriate.
  • It seemed that we used to avoid "season" to also avoid the confusion with Seasons EP. Honestly, this is very obsolete already and EA has already made us confused with TS3 and TS4 having the same EP names, so this is basically pointless now. Consider that we have Pets expansion while having "pet" page, but we never call them "domestic animal" as an alternative.
