Notes about rumors, citations and speculation

First, everything in the real world should be cited. To be considered a rumor rather than just an idea there must be "talk" that suggests it could be true and a reference to this "talk".

Second, only facts. Use the talk page to express opinions and speculate.

After Dark?

There has been a rumor going around about an expansion pack named 'After Dark' which contains a mix of TS1 Hot Date and TS2 Nightlife. Should I add it to the list? Guffers 08:57, June 13, 2010 (UTC)

I would say not yet... if it appears somewhere on EA's store or site, much like Fast Lane Stuff did before its official announcement, then I would say it should be changed from 'rumor' to 'practically confirmed', 'likely real' or something to that effect. It will happen soon... typically, if a rumor is confirmed, it's given a few days wait before it's moved off the page. The Sims 3: Medieval/Realm

I don't believe Medieval/Realm is gonna be an expansion, It will probably be a stuff pack (possibly titled "The Sims 3: Medieval Stuff" or "The Sims 3: Realm Stuff"), plus, it does not sound like is would make a good expansion.

We don't mind rumors as long as they are kept on this page and there's at least some sort of evidence to it. Someone wishing for a pets expansion doesn't make it a rumor. Someone listing cool stuff he or she would like added to the game is not a rumor. EA buying domains with certain keywords in them and then publically stating that they're taking the Sims through time and space is plenty of reason to start rumors, as long as they do not turn into speculation. The article about Medieval/Realms on the main page is written from a neutral stand point and contains no speculation, it merely states facts. Duskey(talk) 06:17, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

The general policy is that a game isn't moved off the rumor page... If a rumor is confirmed true, it's moved to the appropriate section. If you mean that a new page should be created, the policy is that a page is not created for a game until official confirmation is given by EA. Move the page

It seems to me that "The Sims 3 Expanion Pack Rumors" isn't a good title for this page, since it encompasses any rumor of any new Sim game, not restricted merely to new Expansion packs. If taking the title literally, it even excludes new stuff packs for TS3! However, I'm having a hard time coming up with an appropriate name; something to encompass rumors of all new Sims games, not just new expansions or stuff packs for TS3. Not necessarily. For a long time, It's been assumed that Medieval wouldn't be an expansion. True, it started its "life" as an expansion rumor, but it became something different. If going off of strict interpretation of title, then Medieval should have been confirmed fake - The Sims Medieval is not an expansion pack, so to confirm it's existence here goes against the concept of an expansion pack rumor. Another point; The Sims 4. If there are real substantial rumors that TS4's announcement is forthcoming, those rumors should have some place to be posted. Where else but a page devoted to new game rumors? Yet another point, and one to refute your statement; there are Stuff Pack rumors on this page as well; a stuff pack is not the same as an expansion pack, so those rumors technically don't belong here either.

Fake Box Art

Before this becomes a edit war: I said this could possibly be the box art for outdoor living stuff. Bafendo said its fake. I said it could possibly be fake, but Bafendo reverted it again. What should we say about this picture? BobNewbie ^{talk • blog} 12:49, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

compare this box art to http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/File:Fast_Lane_Box.jpg the background is exactly the same, if this was real the BG would be different. Another reason i say this is because of the Sims 3 and The Sims 3: Deluxe box art has been changed to match that of the console box art. look closely at sp2 box art and this. also that bit of white around the plumbob is off on this outdoors boxart that and "outdoors" is too close to the bottom of the sims 3. and wikipedia is not always a reliable source when it comes to unconfirmed games/rumorsBafendo 13:02, November 28, 2010 (UTC).

it's looking like EP4 won't be announced until after Medieval is released. One reason i say this is due to EA removing the name Generations and it's description from the site code of www.sims3.com and anything hinting towards it excluding a few threads in their forums. So within two weeks maybe EA will say something after Medieval is released. Sims 3 "Unleashed" fake box art

I'm curious why an obvious fake was put on this page. The game is seven months away and Unleashed is most likely only a temporary name, just like "After Dark" was the temporary name of Late Night. It should be removed.Bafendo 22:08, March 14, 2011 (UTC)

Has the Generations trailer been removed?
