NEWSFLASH: BOYD WAINWRIGHT WAS NEVER GREYING!!! WHY DOES EVERYBODY THINKS I'M GREYING - BOYD WAINWRIGHT[]

HIS HAIR IS NOT GREYING!!!! If his hair was suppose to be greying, then he would have the preset platinum-blond or even Blair's version of blond, but with the highlights and maybe maybe tips, being either white or grey. Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 14:23, October 31, 2014 (UTC)

These things you are saying make absolutely no sense. You say since he has "platinum blonde" hair he can't gray, which is completely false. Any hair color has the capability to gray, once you reach a certain age. Also there is no way that you and "Boydykins" are second cousins, because Boyd is fictional. DarkSuicune2000 06:09, February 12, 2016 (UTC)
Nobody can be Boyd Wainwright's second cousin because TS3 cannot recognize second cousins. I was just weird back then because I was obsessed by The Sims 3. 94.37.76.118 (talk) 13:41, February 12, 2016 (UTC)
Exactly, and also I'm still quite obsessed with Sims 3 but that is no excuse to act like the way Kaiko Mikkusu did about his hair color. DarkSuicune2000 23:34, February 12, 2016 (UTC)
There was also no excuse to bump this discussion, which has been silent for over a year. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 23:47, February 12, 2016 (UTC)
And to think I was considering putting up a closed discussion template yesterday, but I wasn't sure if it would be considered "practical". ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 00:58, February 13, 2016 (UTC)

Hair color[]

I have protected the article for three days due to unnecessary edit warring regarding this Sim's hair color. Rather than going back and forth on the article, the matter should be discussed here, on the talk page. Kaiko Mikkusu believes that Boyd Wainwright's hair is not greying (as the article previously stated it was), whereas others have expressed the belief that it is. Please discuss in a mature and calm manner. -- LostInRiverview talkblogcontribs 15:00, October 31, 2014 (UTC)

Okay this section of talkpage talk if you think his hair should be greying or not, and why, cuz i think it's platinum-white even through it looks like it might be greying, greying hair would be like, Vita's, Nick's, Thornton's, and Gobias', if Boyd was greying he'd be the preset platinum blond or Blair's blond, but with some ACTUAL white or grey in the highlights and maybe tips. Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 15:02, October 31, 2014 (UTC)
To be clear the primary reason why I reverted is that this is not a valid text to put in the template parameter; instead of being a specific color it read more like someone way furious at how the information disagreed with him and listed a bunch of users in it. The edit summaries after that, "He will feed you to a cowplant", is completely irrelevant and doesn't help in the situation one bit. This edit is quite evidently unconstructive and I don't blame anyone that decides to rollback such an edit. Kaiko Mikkusu has made over 300 edits and should know better than to behave in such a manner inside the main article space, instead of discussing on the talk page like we are doing now.
My other comment is that, if we decide that grey is not Wainwright's hair color, we'll need to think of another value (currently Kaiko Mikkusu says it is Platinum-White), and then categorize this page in one of these categories. "My hair color is Platinum-White and if anyone else changes this value i will feed them to a cowplant" is not a hair color. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 15:38, October 31, 2014 (UTC)
First, Wainwright is his surname, Boyd is his first name, and he's not the only sim with Wainwright as a surname either. B\c he has a wife and daughter and might have other children, plus other unrelated sims spawning with the same surname. And yeah, maybe i exaggerated a bit. Sometimes it can seem like i have a slight Inappropriate trait. (Actually it's just Asperger's.) And yeah, "My hair color is Platinum-White and if anyone else changes this value i will feed them to a cowplant" is not an haircolor, more of a quote about an haircolor. And well, i'd say: If Geoffrey Landgraab can be categorized as blond, and the LL-based sims whose platinum-blond hair has bluish highlights\tips in them, can also be categorized as blond, let's categorize "Platinum-White" as blond, until other sims with said haircolor start appearing and it can be considered its own category. (And the word "Boyd" also means blond in scottish. Blair means field and Wainwright means wagon-builder in the same variant of scottish. That family apparently names their children after scottish surnames or something.) It's too light to be considered any variant of brunette, and if you changed the "greenish-blue" basetone to a reddish or orangish color it might count as redhead, but even that can be a stretch. Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 15:57, October 31, 2014 (UTC)
Also i made a search for "Platinum-white hair" and i guess that could be his haircolor. https://www.google.it/search?q=platinum-white&rlz=1C1AVNC_enIT597IT597&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=667&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=oMdTVKzvI8_hapOGgsgG&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ#tbm=isch&q=platinum-white+hair&facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=fGYCrSy-HD1PSM%253A%3B5xRv0XFlzC40jM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.trekflashair.com%252Fwp-content%252Fuploads%252F2014%252F09%252Fwhite-blonde-hair-mlmatbt.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.trekflashair.com%252F34-natural-blonde-hair-style-2014.html%252Fplatinum-blonde-hair-natural-white-blonde-hair-on-pinterest-ezxcczln-long-hairstyle-ideas%3B1000%3B1506 Ofcourse these are (usually) dyed, or sometimes from partial albinism. (Sims cannot be albino... right?) while Boyd's eyebrows are the same color as his hair, making it natural. And TS3 won't be the first videogame where a supporting character has hair that looks like that. Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 17:51, October 31, 2014 (UTC)

(edit conflict)Oh, well, now that I know you have Aspergers I can see why you got a bit over-excited there.
I don't necessarily think that we should categorize Wainwright (or Boyd, if you prefer to call them by their first name) in the blond/blonde-hair Sims category, because blond, by definition, always has some sort of yellowish color, and Boyd Wainwright doesn't have yellow in his hair. Are there any more Sims with whitish hair color? We could probably create a new category, providing there are enough Sims to populate it. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 18:23, October 31, 2014 (UTC)
Uh, the roots\highlights\tips of his hair are the same color as in, the preset platinum blond. (or at least a similiar color). And it's blondish. BUT his basetone is actually greenish. Hexcode

RBG 229\243\229 is used for his basetone, which is actually some sort of grayish-green.  Look in this page: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HairColorDissonance  - If you really really wanted to, just lump him in with: Lola Belle, Matilda Smart, Goodwin Goode, Triton King, Gracie Loveland, Ashley Corono, Victoria Boxer, Silver Racket, Arthur Langerak, Karen Helgason, Holly Robins, Linn Valstrom, Veronika Vinter, Griffin Torrent, Patricia Bedlington, Lydia Pearl, Shannon MacAnna, Donia Spinelli, Arvid Oss, Angel Jenner, David Ziggfield, Edvin Oss, Barbara Jonsdottir, Gary Ghee, Vernon Carpenter, Alice Grantham, Josefin Oss, Jackie Elliot, Finn Lucas, Sally Hustev, Cassidy Wrede, Charmaine Manne, Elin Wrede, Karri Elrod, Roger Goth, Clarissa Patterson, Jonah Wrede, Diana DaSim, Aristi Coast, Alison Kramer, Jenna Riley, Vivian Delafield, Mary Ricketts, Judith Planeson, Stacey Lee, Ben Trigger, Tommy Barbs, Jammer Latoll, Baldur Einarsson, Oskar Stefannson, Audrey Puggle, Emelie Love, Spot Dalmatia, Kriss Theed, Erla Nilsen, Ingrid Linhart, Elsa Sparks, Angelika Olsen, Katy Jayne, Solveig Dorit, Tara Appleton, Langsat Zheng, Angarika Goyave, Thiam Moya, Sunna Flosadottir, Sam Burg, Nanna Anderberg, - and call it "Platinum Blonds". You'd notice that most of these names are from Aurora Skies with a few from Midnight Hollow, Lunar Lakes, Oasis Landing, and Sims University. There might be other OL sims, LL sims, and MH sims whose hair could count but we consider "custom". We have Boyd lumped at "Custom" in this moment. Same for Lotta Greaves*, Apollo Bloom, Maya Ocean, Tatiana Salas*, Sandra Salas*, Jean-Luc Pivert, Jay Salas*, Frieda Salas*, Viola Yates, Conrad Finley, Edmund Flynn (ghost not the lookalike who is just gone grey)*, Finn Dolan, Zelda Blaine, Tina Talisman, Pete Kent, Caroline Thorp, Zenna Fraust, Derek Cedarton, Kylie Singer, Zain Hayadar, Mary Moloney, Belinda Adagio, Richard Phillips, and Howie Alles- many names from OL and LL in there. Maybe EAxis consider platinum-blond hair to be futuristic, and that's why Boyd has it, and these sims from LL\OL also have it. Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 19:23, October 31, 2014 (UTC)

BTW, EAxis is not the only people thinking platinum blond is futuristic; http://digitaltimes.tru.ca//2009/websites/subject_sites/hair_website/images/slightlyfuturistic.jpg  http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/02/f7/1f/02f71f4d0f127dcc94744ac7b08e250a.jpg http://www.arasale.com/photo/beauty/hair/platinum_blonde.jpg - Everyone is platinum-white-haired in the future. Just search "futuristic platinum blond" on Google Images. Expecially this version: http://www.ftape.com/media/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Lumina01.jpg which IS actually a natural blonde. Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 19:44, October 31, 2014 (UTC)

I believe his hair is a blond hair with a bluish platinum-like highlights. Which it is a natural hair (I suppose.). But I suggest we can't add a category that it is special for anyone (or more from him). This category should be a right place for him. And while this discussion may be ongoing, can someone please revert the edits of Kaiko Mikkusu? It's ridiculous to look at. (And what is totes anyway? Is it the word "totally" that may look so fancy for teens so that teens will speak shortly?) ~~.ThePeculiarMe | (talk to me) | (my mistakes) 08:05, November 1, 2014 (UTC)
I think that his hair is greying myself. It is a bit iffy in the actual image that is used in the infobox but in the other two pictures it clearly appears to be greying. In addition, I've also taken the liberty of temporarily reverting the page to the version before this conflict because it looks unprofessional to say his hair colour is "PLATINUM GREY TOTES NOT GREYING" or whatever it was - this is the only reason. Someone will change it when a decision is reached I assume. ђ talk 09:27, November 1, 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, i actually meant totally by "Totes". And yeah, "totes not greying" is pretty much informal. And yeah let's put him in the Colored Hair (Custom BTW) category. The red-streaked Bridgeport vampires, sims whose hair is clearly suppose to be greying, sims with dyed\bleached highlights and tips, LL sims with blue streaked hair, DV "elf" sims, and also sims from OL and MH. But whatever. Platinum-blond hair is sometimes so light that you cannot tell that it's greying. Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 11:33, November 1, 2014 (UTC)
The reason I disagree with his hair being "platinum-blond" is that it will categorize his hair as Category:Sims with colored hair. Normally this category is for Sims with oddly-colored hair, like green, blue, or bright red. Boyd's hair is normal; it's either blond or white (implying it's greying). So to make the categorization proper, we should make the hair either blond or grey. Why should it be "platinum-blond?" "Blond" is more than enough! Personally, though, I prefer greying since it's normally if I see a Sim's hair being partially grey, I'd call it so. Nikel Talk Vote! 14:01, November 1, 2014 (UTC)
I think it's grey/greying, personally. -- LostInRiverview talkblogcontribs 15:32, November 1, 2014 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── I looked at our counterparts at es.sims, pt-br.sims, fr.sims, ru.sims, and nl.sims. All of the counterparts have listed Boyd Wainwright as having blond hair, not grey nor greying. Our spanish counterpart even notes this by saying "At first glance, his hair looks white, giving an old appearance, but it is actually pretty clear." Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 18:22, November 1, 2014 (UTC)

Let's say he's a platinum-blond but it's unknown if it's greying or not because it's so light. Okay? And for Young Adults from MH who have their hair dyed white, and also sims from Dragon Valley. But we consider Matilda Smart as a blonde, and Gloria Goode (whose hair might have been mutated, expecially considering she's a descendant of Platinum-Blond-with-white-highlights-and-tips Goodwin, and Strawberry-Blond Jenni.) we consider her hair being grey. And various LL sims who have blue highlights\tips in their hair, just say their hair is "blonde and blue". (Of course it's also possible Goodwin's hair was greying early, and Gloria inherited that, and thus her hair actually is gone grey.) Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 07:03, November 2, 2014 (UTC)

Maybe it's supposed to be greying in the English version but whitish-greenish-blondish in the translated versions? Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 14:21, November 2, 2014 (UTC)

I doubt that they would do that, its the same sim for all languages, unless I'm missing the point of this completely or its a difference in translation. ђ talk 04:42, November 4, 2014 (UTC)
While I haven't done an actual in-game check, from what I've seen in the pictures of him, he has white-blond hair and greyish-white hair. So it would be correct to state that his hair was greying, although I'm not entirely certain which category fits his hair colour better - Grey or blond. It doesn't really concern me either way.
I was just thinking now, about the idea of keeping "grey haired Sims" or rather "greying" as his info-box hair colour, whilst adding "blond haired Sims" as an additional category. Or perhaps we could change the info-box hair colour to "blond" and add "grey haired Sims" as a category. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 09:28, November 4, 2014 (UTC)
Let's just say "graying platinum-blond" or something like that. He originally had the same haircolor as Blair or just a bit lighter but now it's greying. Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 06:06, November 5, 2014 (UTC)
That would be too much trouble, because then he'd automatically be added to the category "Sims with a custom hair colour", and so far we've all come to agree that his hair is either greying or blond. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 06:10, November 5, 2014 (UTC)
Look, don't make the matter more complicated than it is. It doesn't matter if his hair is too bright for blond or too yellowish for greying. Just choose either "blond" or "greying." No "platinum-blond-grey-white-sapphire-rainbow" color. That would make him listed as "Sims with colored hair," while his hair is certainly not colored. Nikel Talk Vote! 17:42, November 6, 2014 (UTC)
My suggestion was that we could add him to both the blond and grey haired Sim categories, seperately. One in the infobox and one in the category box itself. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 05:21, November 7, 2014 (UTC)
I agree with Kaiku. I don't believe that Boyd Wainwright is greying, rather his hair is colored with a mix of sandy and platinum blond coloring. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 09:00, November 7, 2014 (UTC)
1: It's Kaiko not Kaiku. 2: Kylie Singer was genetically engineered to have white and fuchsia hair, and Caroline Thorp's hair is grey from mutation, and well many LL sims are mutated to have blond hair which is streaked with blue. Zenna Fraust even, was genetically engineered to have really light blond hair streaked with light blue and her eyes are the same light blue if not slightly lighter. Tina Talisman has the same genetically engineered hair as Kylie. While Derek Cedarton's hair was engineered to be a white streaked with a "peachy"-like color. And Mary Moloney is a teal elf that just happens to have white hair. And Maya Ocean is a mermaid whose hair is similiar to the Lunar Lakes mutations, but streaked with slightly purplish and darker blue instead of cyan. They're STILL in the sims with colored hair category. And yeah, sandy blond or platinum blond we could put that. (we could even say Blairs the sandy-blonde instead.) Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 08:27, November 8, 2014 (UTC)
No we can't. We can only say that his hair is greying and / or blond because he doesn't have coloured hair. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 09:00, November 8, 2014 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Don't make long and strange analogies that no one seems to understand, Kaiko. Just make your point straight in short because your explanation is so confusing and convoluted. We have several hair color categories here: black, red, brown, blond, and grey. Pick one and don't overcomplicate things! Nikel Talk Vote! 13:24, November 8, 2014 (UTC)

And I thought, I wasn't the only one who thinks about this user. But let's not talk about this. Anyway, I checked his hair color via CAS, and as far as I can see (and I'm not sure if I'm right), his hair color is far more from greying, Well, I should say there's also a blond mixture but, again, far more from greying instead of blond-like. ~~.ThePeculiarMe | (talk to me) | (my mistakes) 13:40, November 8, 2014 (UTC)
I agree with C.Syde and Nikel - don't over-complicate this. Remember that the body of the article can go into endless detail about the peculiarities of this Sim's hair color, if we want it to. But we have only generalized categories for hair colors added to the infobox, so it's best to pick a general color and stick with that, than to insist that his hair is so special that it warrants being placed in a category by itself or with other, much more "unique" hair colors.
Tl:dr: Just pick gray or blond and leave it at that. Don't over-complicate this. -- LostInRiverview talkblogcontribs 13:59, November 8, 2014 (UTC)
I disagree, C.Syde. His hair is colored and is not greying. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 20:58, November 8, 2014 (UTC)
Yes, but blond is a natural colour, and grey is a natural colour, so we should just pick blond or grey and leave it at that. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 21:38, November 8, 2014 (UTC)

Vote[]

We're going around in circles and it's hard to say what the consensus, if any, is here. So, please vote on the following question: What hair color should be stated in Boyd Wainright's infobox?

  • Option one: greying
  • Option two: blond
  • Option three: other (please specify)

Countdown: Timer has expired

At the end of voting, if no option has a majority, we'll re-assess the situation and possibly hold an additional vote. -- LostInRiverview talkblogcontribs 22:31, November 8, 2014 (UTC)

Please cast your vote for one of the options below

Votes for option one[]

  1. Generally, I'd think a greying hair as... greying. While it's not so obvious, I just think his hair is starting to grey. Nikel Talk Vote! 09:35, November 9, 2014 (UTC)

Votes for option two[]

  1. I think that his hair may not be a perfect "normal" blond, but regardless of whether it's "sandy blond" or "platinum blond" or "ashy blond", it still looks blond to me. I don't think we should be over-specific. -- LostInRiverview talkblogcontribs 22:33, November 8, 2014 (UTC)
  2. His hair is greying, but it's still blond, so thus it makes sense to have "blond" in the info box because it's most likely his natural hair colour, whilst greying. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 22:35, November 8, 2014 (UTC)
  3. Seems better than having millions and millions of categories on every possible hair color. Just go with blonde and call it a day. There are different shades of every color, but who honestly cares? --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 22:36, November 8, 2014 (UTC)
  4. To quote a great man - "It's only logical"... and because it is a color of blonde to me. Beds (talk - blog) 22:40, November 8, 2014 (UTC)
  5. Pretty clear to me GAHSIcepick (talk) 22:41, November 8, 2014 (UTC)
  6. I say blond as well, albeit a very pale blond. That makes it hard to say if it is graying, but it wouldn't be possible to tell until it is completely white (like with my grandmother). -- Icemandeaf (talk) 22:48, November 8, 2014 (UTC)
  7. I've checked Boyd's hair, again, because just for the sake of the war over here. And I'm sure that he's blond. It's a little blind when his hair is both blond and greying at the same time via his physical self. But to check out the CAS, he's much of a blond person. ~~.ThePeculiarMe | (talk to me) | (my mistakes) 23:14, November 8, 2014 (UTC)
  8. If his hair was really really greying, he'll have the base grey and the rest blonde, like many greying sims, but he dosen't. Imasexysimlover (talk) 12:16, November 9, 2014 (UTC)

Votes for option three[]

  1. Colored - Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 15:37, November 9, 2014 (UTC)

The voting has dried up, and the timer has expired. Based upon the above votes, it seems that the "blond" hair colour will be stated in Boyd Wainwright's info-box. The last time I checked, I was totally within my rights to specify what has been decided. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 06:44, November 18, 2014 (UTC)

Thomas Danson[]

Sorry for getting angry about the whole Boyd Wainwright's hair being greying stuff. I was'nt lucid back then. But it's either white, light blond, platinum blond, or mint green with blond streaks. Like how Susan's bio says that her hair seems ginger but it's auburn\brown with streaks, we can say that Boyd's hair seems white but is actually mint green with blond streaks. And I don't think he looks much like Thomas Danson, either. Maybe a bit of David Duchovny with Susan being also a bit based on Gillian Anderson. Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 09:39, October 8, 2016 (UTC)

white hair[]

Boyd has white hair and that's it. He's one of the few sims that has naturally white hair as his toddler-to-adult stages. I call it minty-white hair specifically. And I think that he would'nt be the only sim to have that specific hair color. Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 20:22, September 28, 2017 (UTC)

You were warned two years go not to continue to try and change the information on Boyd's hair colour, as it has been voted upon by the community. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 20:33, September 28, 2017 (UTC)
I was delirious and nonlucid then. And now I'm not. Technically it can be considered both a white and a light blond. Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 16:56, October 7, 2017 (UTC)
Nonetheless, trying to revive an argument that was settled a couple of years ago by a vote is a bad idea. And I strongly advise against doing it. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 06:43, October 8, 2017 (UTC)
