The Soul's Journey to fulfillment and rebirth


Soul's Journey is a gameplay feature added in The Sims 4: Life & Death expansion pack. Soul's Journey a is progress bar with an array of goals that are personal to each Sim that is displayed above the aspirations in the aspiration panel.

When a Sim is alive their goals are under the Bucket List, a list of goals a Sim will want to achieve before passing away. Should a Sim pass away while they still have goals in their bucket list, their list will instead will become Unfinished Business that they can achieve before moving on peacefully or acquire the burning soul reward trait.

Completing the goals in a Sim's soul journey can give Sims the ability to be gain new traits as well as experience rebirth; and in their new life earn the milestones and childhood development skills from their past life.

Levels[]

There are nine levels to a Sim's Soul Journey that they can level through by completing goals they acquire. Three of the levels are only available once the Sim has become a ghost. Sims will progress through their soul's journey by completing goals, fulfilling wants, and completing milestones for their aspiration.

[Sim Name] is gaining momentum! With this reward tier unlocked, enjoy extra skill gain bonuses to help them through life!

[Sim Name]'s hard work pays off! [Sim Name] will receive bonus gains to their career performance, extra discounts on any computer purchases, as well as access to the Share Soul's Journey social interaction!

No Regrets No Regrets

Thanks to [Sim Name]'s satisfaction, they will enjoy an extended life as a living Sim. As a ghost, they will also gain the ability to use the Move Onto the Great Beyond interaction on urns or gravestones when it's decided that it's time to permanently leave this world and embrace the next journey with peace and fulfillment.

What a ride it's been! [Sim Name] can now leave their lasting mark on the world by gaining the Pass Down social interaction, as well as the ability to create additional Heirloom objects.

[Sim Name] has accomplished so much, but what else is out there to do? This sense of yearning emboldens their spirit with the power to Rebirth. As a ghost, they can choose to Rebirth at anytime by visiting Baleful Bog in the Mourningvale neighborhood of Ravenwood, or as a living Sim they will be given the option to Rebirth at the moment of death!

Death certainly offers a fresh perspective! [Sim Name] now gains extra Ghost Mastery experience points!

With an unimaginable clarity of life, death, and everything between, [Sim Name] now has enhanced stamina when performing Ghost Mastery!
[Sim Name] also acquired the coveted Burning Soul trait! With this trait [Sim Name] can retain one personality trait from the previous life through the Recall Past Life self- interaction in their next life.
Additionally, they will also have access to the Peer into Soul interaction available on mirrors to inherit as many reward traits gained. If [Sim Name] chooses to be reborn as a younger Sim, certain developmental skills will be instantly unlocked.

Adding Goals[]

Sims as they age will naturally start acquiring goals for their soul journey to achieve based on their traits. Sims can add to their list by using a computer or a journal to log their goals randomly based off their traits, relationship, experiences, etc. or category of goals. If a Sim has witnessed a death, attended Afterlife Anonymous meetings, or are chased by death, they can write their own perfect goal from a list.

Goals can range from a variety of subjects such as:

  • Crafting Goals
  • Family Care and Expanding
  • Party and Social Events
  • Romance goals and Marriage
  • Skill Mastering
  • Travel locations
  • Woohoo locations and experiences

Goals also have a large amount of crosspack compatibility as Sims can write and obtain goals for:

Rebirth[]

Sims who achieve the "Dreams Fulfilled" level of their Soul's Journey unlock the ability to be reborn. Sims who have fulfilled their dreams and die from any type of death, will get a third option in the death screen underneath becoming a playable or unplayable ghost, the player can choose for rebirth. Sims who are already ghosts can access rebirth through the Baleful Bog in Mourningvale neighborhood of Ravenwood.

When being reborn, the player can choose any family living in the different worlds or even choose the same family they're from, and can be reborn as any age group from infant to elder. When reborn Sims will live their life once again they can retain a unique connection to friends and family they were close with in their previous life.

Should a Sim fully complete their Soul's Journey before being reborn, they will acquire the Burning Soul reward trait gain developmental bonuses as well as the ability to recall a personality trait from their past life and even regain past reward traits.
