Singing is a skill in The Sims 4: City Living which determines how good a Sim is at singing songs.

Although this skill is vastly different from other musical equipments, singing is treated as an instrument skill (along with guitar, piano, violin and pipe organ). This has been further evidenced when tracking the Musical Genius aspiration, as singing also accounted as a musical instrument.

Learning[]

Singing skill is available for Sims aged child and older. Children can learn this skill upon mastering their Creativity fundamental. Ways to build this skill are:

Using karaoke machines.
Singing while playing a Piano.
Singing while playing a Guitar.
Singing with a microphone.
Singing in the shower.
Performing the "Practice Singing" self-interaction.
Serenading other sims (Romance interaction).
Singing holiday songs.^[TS4:S]
Sitting in on a singing skill class.^[TS4:DU]
Taking a singing elective class while attending university.^[TS4:DU]

Skill Levels[]

Level	Abilities and Unlocks
1	New interactions: Click Microphone/Sim to Practice Singing. Genre unlocks: Solo House, Jazz, and Pop on Karaoke Machine. Country Duet with Karaoke Machine.
2	Genre unlocks: Rock songs on Karaoke Machine, Duet Pop songs. Folk genre unlocks on Microphone (and Guitar/Piano with level 3 in those Skills). New interactions: Rave about Favorite Singers Interaction unlocks.
3	Genre unlocks: Country (solo) and Duet Jazz songs unlock on Karaoke Machine. Pop songs on Microphone (and Piano/Guitar with level 3 in those instruments). New interactions: Can now select to sing pop songs by clicking on the Sim. Serenade.
4	Genre unlocks: Disco songs and Duet Ballads on the Karaoke Machine.
5	Genre unlocks: Piano/Guitar/Microphone. New interactions: Sing Jazz under the Sim-click Sing Song menu.
6	Singing voice continues to improve, more likely to get a good moodlet from singing Karaoke.
7	Theater Drama songs can be sung on the Microphone, Guitar, Piano, and under the Sing Song menu when clicking the Sim.
8	New interaction: Write Lyrics is possible by clicking on the Microphone. Write Lyrics on Guitar and Piano if you have at least level 3 in those instruments. The Sim can sing songs they've written, both on those instruments and through the Sing Song menu.
9	New interactions: Written songs can now be Licensed by clicking the mailbox.
10	Better likelihood of a good outcome when using the Karaoke Machine (ie a better Moodlet) and a better voice.

Jazz (Starter)
- Shaken, Not Stirred - uses scenes of Roaring Heights, including a band playing and Sims using the pool table.
- Classic Beauty - using scenes of an undead Sim with a human Sim confronting it; also showing scenes of another Sim singing on stage.
Pop (Starter)
- Fun Tonight - using scenes from The Sims 3: Island Paradise, including beach scenes (snorkelling, boating, swimming and celebrating).
- Fool's Prayer - uses scenes from Sunset Valley and a rock band singing.
House (Starter)
- Weekender - using scenes at lots of performances on stages from The Sims 3: Showtime trailer.
- For Your Love - uses scenes from The Sims 3: Late Night trailer, including a DJ background from Get Together.
Rock (Unlocked at Level 2)
- Hotter Than Sin - uses scenes where a rock band attempts to convince a woman to stay with them.
- Night After Night - uses lots of teens in rock bands playing.
Country (Unlocked at Level 3)
- Nectar Drinking Land - using scenes of a man and dog travelling across the country in their car. Uses scenes from The Sims 3: Pets.
- Run To Palomino - uses scenes from The Sims 3: Pets, depicts a woman caring for her horse and riding it. The horse meets with another one.
Disco (Unlocked at Level 4)
- Funky Sims - Uses scenes with lots of Sims roller-skating and playing arcade games.
- Hot Summer - Using scenes of a party; tons of Sims dancing.
Duets
- Country Duet (Starter) - Uses country scenes of Sims playing dominoes, with one Sim turning into a Werewolf.
- Pop Duet (Level 2) - Uses scenes from The Sims 3 intro video.
- Jazz Duet (Level 3) - Shows scenes of Roaring Heights, along with a Sim couple romancing.
- Romance Duet (Level 4) - Shows scenes from the trailer of The Sims 3: Generations.
