Riverview Reflect

Riverview is a free downloadable town originally offered from The Sims 3 store. The town was developed by Visceral Games, and is a gift for people who register their copy of The Sims 3. It was the first town made available for download, and is currently the only free downloadable town. It initially served as an incentive for players to purchase, rather than pirate, their copy of The Sims 3, as pirated versions are unable to download Riverview from TheSims3.com. However, this upside no longer applies, due to more recent pirated versions of The Sims 3 coming included with The Sims 3 store content such as Riverview.

Overview[]

Like Sunset Valley, Riverview is very large compared to previous games, although it is a small town with an idyllic countryside setting. It's dotted with farms, beautiful pastures, and nestled by a winding river, known, according the world's flavor text, as the Simomon. There are 95 lots altogether, three fewer than in Sunset Valley. The center of town is built up on an island in the middle of the Simomon. The street name where Constance Shelley and Meadow Carpenter-Rhodes live suggests that the island name is Long Island. On one of the shores of the river, there is an industrial area featuring several rabbit holes. The landscape is primarily flat, with one notable hill upon which stands Remington's Ruse, the Remington family home.

The architectural style is primarily small rustic town, with a few industrial-style lots in the industrial area that contains the military base, hospital, and abandoned warehouse. Despite the small town style, there is a lot of diversity in the townscape, with farms, poor and wealthy subdivisions, and forested terrain.

There are 50 new playable Sims in total. There are 22 empty residential lots for players to get started on, or they can choose any of the pre-made families. The cheapest of the lots is §1200, and the most expensive is §14,700. The smallest available lot is 20x30, and the largest is 64x64. The most expensive lot will put players in the company of Lessen, Shallows, Wilson, and Grisbys.

There are a few old faces from The Sims 2 in Riverview, just as in Sunset Valley.

Homeless Sims[]

These Sims are pre-made, but homeless when Riverview is first loaded.

NPCs[]

Deceased Sims[]

Subdistricts[]

In theory, Riverview could easily be divided into possibly as many as five subdistricts, which is sufficiently many that it'd be infeasible to give them separate pages. Note that all following names are unofficial and lack any form of consensus:

  • Long Island / Downtown (The middle island with most community facilities)
  • Industrial district (The cluster with an office building, public pool, stadium, diner, hospital, and more)
  • South bank excl. the industrial district (Hills with large residential lots)
  • Northeast bank (Various small houses and a school)
  • Northwest bank (Houses in all price classes and many small empty lots)

Trivia[]

  • Riverview and Riverblossom Hills share the same farm/country effect and Riverview has a street named "Riverblossom Hills Drive".
  • In some empty houses on Cypress Lane, there is a Sloppy Jalopy in the garage.
  • The "Mine Monster" can be viewed on the southeast side of the map.
  • 22.2% of playable Sims in Riverview are elders, making Riverview the most elderly-populated neighborhood in The Sims 3 series. (compared to Sunset Valley (4.5%), Twinbrook (9.1%), Barnacle Bay (12.1%), Bridgeport (3%), and Hidden Springs (4%).
  • Riverview is the only downloadable town not to have The Sims 3 in its name so when viewed in The Sims 3 Store, it will display The Sims 3 logo.[1] As of Barnacle Bay, The Sims 3 has been added to the town's name (to match The Sims 3 Barnacle Bay, The Sims 3 Hidden Springs, etc.).
  • All events in Riverview take place before The Sims 2. However, this is not the case for Don Lothario. His story clearly follows on from the events that took place in The Sims 2.
  • Riverview has the most deceased Sims out of any of The Sims 3 neighborhoods.
  • Riverview features no pregnant Sims when the game is started.
  • It is the only downloadable world for The Sims 3 with only one word in the name.
  • Riverview is one of the locations where postcards can be obtained from in The Sims 4.
  • Riverview may be located in the state of Illinois due to the Simomon River referencing the Sangomon River, which is located within that state.
  • A fair few community lots, mostly on the downtown island and the industrial district, have no lot assignment, something that isn't supposed to be possible (Especially not since Patch 12). This affects the lots City Hall, Sunflower Spa, Divisadero Budget Books, Little Corsican Bistro, EverFresh Delights Supermarket, Wilsonoff Community Theatre, Hogan's Deep-Fried Diner, and County Care General Hospital (Note that those are not only the rabbit hole names, but also the lot names).
  • For unknown reasons, the outermost inaccessible terrain can be clicked on and even deleted in Edit Town, which would turn Riverview into an archipelago.
