Riding is a skill introduced in The Sims 3: Pets and The Sims 4: Horse Ranch.
The Sims 3: Pets[]
Sims with the equestrian trait learn this skill much faster than normal.

Challenges[]
- Equestrian Champion
- Equestrian Champions have won at least 20 Equestrian Center competitions at the Advanced or International level. They are so well-known in the riding world that they receive extra prize money from sponsorships at every competition they win.
- Mustang Master
- Mustang Masters have adopted at least 3 wild Horses, so they know how to bring out the best in a horse. When a Mustang Master adopts a Wild Horse, he can choose some of the horse's traits.
- Horse Friend
- Horse Friends have been Best Friends with at least 10 Horses. They're at ease around their equine buddies, and the Horses know it! Horses rarely shy away from being handled by a Horse Friend.
- Rider of Legends
- To become a Rider of Legends, a Sim must win all three types of Equestrian Center competitions at the International level. For their dedication to the art of horsemanship, these Sims receive a truly epic equine statue.

- If the player moves a Sim with riding skill to another neighborhood, the Sim's show jumping competitions won stat will reset to 0. But you'll keep the benefit of the extra prize money of you completed the related Skill Challenge.
- Pre-made sims with the riding skill are: Zac Whipsnake (level 4) Chuck Hobble & Kenji Midden (level 9) and Honey Darnell (Mastered).
The Sims 4: Horse Ranch[]
Sims with the Horse Lover trait learn this skill much faster.
Description[]
Horse Riding can be a recreational activity, a mode of travel, or a means for winning Competitions. The Skill reflects the riding Sim's capabilities rather than the horse's capabilities.
The best way to learn this skill is to mount up and get riding! All of a Sim's time spent riding improves their Horse Riding Skill, whether out for a leisurely ride or training the Horse's Agility, Jumping, or Endurance Skills.
