The Sims 3: Island Paradise

A resort building is a rabbit hole in The Sims 3: Island Paradise, intended for resort lot assignments. Without gamemods, they can only be bought and placed on resort lots, and a resort lot needs at least one such building in order for the game to recognize the lot as a valid resort.

The buildings can to varying extents be upgraded, and to enable or disable room service and spa services. This can be done for a price by a Sim who owns the resort's lot, or with Testing cheats and ^ Ctrl+⇧ Shift+clicking on the buildings. This will make the buildings provide more profit for the owner (and slightly increase the star rating), while increasing maintenance costs slightly. Buildings can also be changed between 3 pre-determined color schemes.

When Sims wish to sleep in a resort building, this is done by selecting Standard Room when checking in to the resort, regardless of the building's quality (since "Luxury Room" refers to regular visible rooms with objects, whose doors have been set to be VIP-locked).

Motives[]

A hotel guest who has checked in at the front desk, can enter a resort building, where they can have their Energy, Hygiene, and Bladder motives fulfilled. If "Room Service" has been enabled for the building, the Hunger motive will be fulfilled too.

  • Improving Hygiene from bottom to full takes 60min from entering the building.
  • Improving Energy from Tired to full takes around 11 hours for a human Sim.
  • Improving Bladder to full takes 5min.
  • A Sim who feels Nauseous, will remain inside the building when the timer runs out.
  • (Only if Room Service has been turned on) Improving Hunger from Very Hungry 24 h to full takes around 45min for a human Sim.

If the building has spa services enabled, guests and owners can receive spa treatments free of charge, even ones that would've cost thousands of Simoleons in a regular spa rabbit hole.
