The Urbz: Sims in the City (Console)

A Rep group is a group of like-minded and styled Urbz. Rep groups exist in The Urbz: Sims in the City for handheld.

Not all Urbz are part of a Rep group, some of them are unclassified, such as Bayou Boo, Crawdad Clem, Sharona Faster, etc.

Each rep group has an exclusive Xizzle, exclusive Rep group object, their own unique walkstyle, their own unique greeting, a gold plaque and silver plaque, and a statue representing their rep group in front of the rep group clubhouse. All these rewards can be earned per Rep group if the player maxes out their Rep with another group and joins them.

In the DS version, there is a second exclusive Xizzle available to each Rep group. Unlike other Rep group rewards, the player is locked to one of these per playthrough.

List of Rep groups[]

Miniopolis has given rise to four Rep groups, each of which features three members and a king or queen. Each group also has a nemesis group and a part of town it deems unacceptable. The player's Urb is sorted into one of them with the questionnaire at the beginning of the game.

Each group also has a mission that, if completed, earns the player two crucial Rep points with that Rep group. The Rep mission is obtained by talking to a group's king or queen once the player amasses enough Rep points with the group (3 if it is the player's own Rep group and 5 if it is another Rep group). See the game guide for help on how to complete these.

Rep scores[]

Rep score ranges from -10 to 10 and are particular to each of the four Rep groups. There are only 10 slots shown in the Popularity menu; the player's total is displayed in white if positive and red if negative.

The Rep group to which the player's Urb currently belongs appears at the top of the list. To get to the top of a Rep group, the player must earn all 10 of the positive Rep points and have no negative Rep points. Getting to this peak necessarily means doing things that harm reputation with one other group. The player can't, therefore, have 10 Rep points in all four groups at one time (but it's quite possible to reach Level 10 in each of them individually).

Gaining Rep points[]

  1. Relationship 50 with any of the Rep group's four members (1 point each)
  2. Relationship 100 with the group leader
  3. Maximum points in the corresponding skill
  4. Relationship <0 with the rival group's leader
  5. Give their trophy back to their leader (be careful with this, as other Urbz can accept it)[1]
  6. Complete the Rep goals (2 points)

Moving in with a member of a Rep group does NOT grant a Rep point. However, moving in with a member of the rival group will take away a Rep point, but kicking them out will return that point to the player.

Losing Rep Points[]

  1. Living in an unfavored location
  2. Having a member of the rival Rep group as a roommate
  3. Negative relationship with any Rep group member (-1 for each member)
  4. Less than -50 relationship with any Rep group member (-1 for each member)

Rep Rewards[]

There are more rewards available for the group to which the player belongs. If the player later drops in score or changes groups, many rewards are lost (i.e. signature walk, bumper boat, magazine subscription, greeting gesture) but others (Rep objects, Rep mission, clubhouse key, Rep Xizzle, and plaques) belong to the player for life.

For the player's current Rep group
+10 Talking to king bestows group's clubhouse key for clubhouse in Glasstown.
+9 The player's Urb does a group's signature walk.
+8 Talking to king unlocks group's Rep Xizzle. To actually get the Xizzle, however, it still must be traded for beads at the Club Xizzle.

+6 Talking to king gets Rep object.
+5 Talking to king grants a special bumper boat for the Yar Hey! Bombard minigame.

Trivia[]

  • According to Lily Gates, there used to be more Rep groups. They were the the Beaties, Dudies, Punkies, Prancies, Gothies, and Jetties.
  • Inside the game files, there is another group named "Indies", probably short for "Independents".[3]
  • Due to the requirement to talk to Daddy Bigbucks, the Streeties are the only Rep group whose clubhouse cannot be unlocked until the post-game.
    • This can be circumvented through the usage of the 'Nemesis' Xizzle to lower Daddy Bigbucks's relationship with the player sim, however this will result in goals which measure popularity becoming marginally harder due to Daddy Bigbucks being inaccessible during them.
    • All other Rep groups can have their clubhouse unlocked as soon as Glasstown is accessible.

References[]

  1. Most Urbz won't. The only ones who will are Sue Pirnova, who will accept the Nerdie trophy, and Pritchard Locksley and Theresa Bullhorn, who will accept the Artsie trophy. If any of these characters recieve the trophy, there will be no gain of Rep group points.
  2. Changing groups eliminates all the temporary benefits from the prior group but does not affect any tangible or permanent benefits.
