A pre-made Sim (also written as premade) is a class of playable Sims in The Sims 4. This unofficial term is usually used to distinguish sims created by the developers from sims created by players and/or sims generated randomly by the system (as well as called townies).

Premades are fully fleshed out Sims. created by the developers, that reside in a household in a world or neighborhood. They have jobs, skills, and personalities, as well as pre-established relationships with other Sims families universally.

With every world shipped with The Sims 4's multiple expansion and game packs come multiple households and, of course, multiple premade sims.

The term "premade" is often used interchangeably with the term "townie", and although they can share some common characteristics, they are not the same. In some situations, pre-made Sims can fill some of the roles played by townies, and vice versa.

Premades who are also Townies[]

The Sims 4 base game initially had no pre-made townies (all were randomly generated once the game began). However, with Patch 73 the base game included Alex Moyer, a pre-made sim for the game's tutorial. Once the tutorial is over (or if the player skips the tutorials and simply plays the game), Alex Moyer becomes a regular townie. This makes Alex the first ever pre-made townie for The Sims 4 base game.

Content packs for The Sims 4 introduce numerous premade townies. Although most of them cannot be playable without possibly losing their assigning attributes (defining NPCs), which are usually shown as a red title, the townies were still premade by the developers and have lore (including personalities, likes and dislikes, careers, etc.) attached to them.

In The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs, the game ships with Captain Whitaker (a stray ghost dog) and Mayor Whiskers (a stray cat), both of which are pet townies that roam around in Brindleton Bay. In The Sims 4: Seasons, Father Winter (named Clement Frost) will generate as a pre-made townie, although he only shows up during Winterfest holidays and not randomly around town. With The Sims 4: Get Famous, the expansion features several pre-made celebrity townies, such as Baby Ariel, Brytani Cho and Izzy Fabulous. A few pre-made mermaids appear as townies with The Sims 4: Island Living, such as Nalani Mahi'ai and Ukupanipo Hekekia. Discover University introduced a few townies, including Jing Fen and Lana McKinnon, to serve as potential professors. The Sims 4: Werewolves features mostly pre-made werewolf townies who are in a werewolf pack, such as Rory Oaklow and Lou Howell. The Sims 4: For Rent includes a bunch of tenant Sims, who appear for tenant applications when owning a residential rental. Tenant Sims do not spawn into the world or are not playable until they have been moved into a unit.

  • In the Sims 4, many premades wear randomized outfits for their hot weather and cold weather outfits since that feature was added at the time of release of The Sims 4: Seasons, and sims from earlier packs didn't get new outfits assigned to them.
