The playground tower was first introduced in The Sims 2: Apartment Life. Only children and teens can use the object. Children can play in the tower, and teens can "hang out" on them. Sims will climb up the ladders on the sides to reach the top, and will observe their surroundings from their height. When finished, they will slide down the fireman's pole and walk out from under. Up to four Sims can play at a time.

Child Sims can choose to "Play on" the playground towers, teen Sims can choose to "Hang Out On" them, while adults, elders, and pets can't use them at all (Not even with the Childish trait).
