The Sims The Sims 2 The Sims 3 The Sims 4

Park is a type of community lot in The Sims and The Sims 2, and a lot assignment in The Sims 3 and The Sims 4.

The Sims and The Sims 2

The Sims and The Sims 2 did not allow community lots to be specifically designated as parks, but a community lot could be designed as a park. In The Sims, Downtown and Old Town each had a park. In The Sims 2, parks are a common feature of neighborhoods and sub-neighborhoods, though not all will have a park.

In the console version of The Sims 2: Pets, the Town Square is a park.

The Sims 3

Attracts
Sims with either the loves the outdoors, angler or green thumb traits, or are in the athletic career.
Deters
Sims with the hates the outdoors trait.

Park lots attract Sims in a similar way to gym and pool lots, and are one of the few lot assignments that allow Sims to bring toddlers along. Lots can be set as small or large, which dictates how many Sims will gather there. If Pets is installed, strays may visit parks, and wild horses may visit large parks. Parks often feature grills and picnic tables, and typically push Sims to socialize.

As a lot assignment, parks provide the Beautiful Park moodlet:

Image Moodlet Name Mood Effect Time Period From Game Dialog/Description Notes Expansion
Beautiful Park Beautiful Park +15 - Park Lot The money City Hall put into this park was well spent! Swing sets, slides and jungle gyms, oh my! Does not appear if Sim has Hates the Outdoors trait.
TS3 Icon

There are two types of lot assignments for park lots: Big Park and Small Park. These influence the boost of the moodlet, and also the number of Sims that will visit the lot. Magician NPCs appear at Big Park lots. Some of the lots listed on this page are actually No Visitors Allowed and Visitors Allowed lots. They generate a park map tag, but do not give the moodlets associated with true parks. The only true park lots added in The Sims 3: World Adventures are the Emperor's Plaza and the Hot Springs.

With Showtime, it is possible to add a stage to a park, which will allow that park to host some types of gigs. This can also be done in graveyards, fishing spots and beaches.

Sunset Valley parks

There are ponds for fishing, plants to harvest, and butterflies to collect. There are also picnic spawners that do not seem available in either build mode or buy mode. It is Sunset Valley's centerpiece and main park. Sims can play chess here. There are swing sets as well, and a small somewhat hidden bathroom building. With The Sims 3: Seasons expansion, it will host festivals.

The Sims 4

In The Sims 4, there are two types of parks: parks and national parks. National parks were originally introduced in The Sims 4: Outdoor Retreat, but as of Patch 21 the lot assignment also available in the base game. Central parks were introduced in The Sims 4: City Living, however, the lot type is not available anywhere else to use, and is only found in Myshuno Meadows.

Parks usually include chess tables, children playsets and bathrooms. National parks only require a grill, a picnic table and a trash can. They are a great location for Sims with the loves outdoors trait.
