Optimum Alfred is a robot who is featured in The Sims 2 for Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance. In the Nintendo DS version, occasionally he and his drones will attack the hotel, and needs to be fought by the player as the Ratticator to get rid of him.

Life Leading up to The Sims 2 (GBA)[]

In contrast to his character in the DS game, Optimum is not an antagonist in this game, and plays minor roles in most episodes that he is in. He works in the factory and lives close to the minigame "Chop Shop." He is 30 years old and was created by Tristan Legend, who made him when he was 5.

In "What Digs Beneath," the player must get some scrap metal from the factory. Optimum Alfred has an old shelf that he would be fine with the player taking, but he refuses to assist the player in taking it. The player will need to ask Jimmy “The” Neck to help.

During "Aliens Arrived," Lord Mole asks the player to enlist the help of Bigfoot and Optimum Alfred. Optimum Alfred will request that the player clear out the factory of aliens before he will agree to help.

He disposes of Kayleigh Wintercrest's perfume in "A Brand New Scent” by sending it off to space in a rocket (for 5000 simoleons). Said rocket hits Emperor Xizzle’s UFO whole ascending.

Mayor Honest Jackson accidentally programmed Optimum Alfred to set up an auction for the dinosaur bones in "Triassic Trouble."

During "The Doomed Earth," the player will have to pay Optimum Alfred 5000 simoleons in order to destroy the meteor threatening Earth. This is the most expensive required transaction in the game. He will set up a teleporter for the player to be sent to the asteroid and set off the bomb, telling them that they need to hit the red and the blue wires.

In "It All Came to an End," he plays a much bigger role. Daddy Bigbucks has planned to reprogram Optimum Alfred into an evil robot under his control to work as an antagonist for future seasons. The player is instructed to upgrade their Super Drencher from Emperor Xizzle and then use it on Alfred. Promptly, he will explode and his body parts spread across the map. The player will have to collect all of these body parts and bring them to Tristan Legend, who will have to be convinced to put him together again. Optimum Alfred tells the main character that he is disappointed in them, expecting that they would be the one to stand up to Daddy Bigbucks, and exposes the television ploy to the whole town.

If the player decides to keep up the ruse with the television show, the player will have to pay 5000 simoleons[confirmation needed] to make him leave.

He is part of the hidden want in "A Very Special Reunion," where the player must play all five minigames in the game's world and then talk to him. If spoken to before the player has done that, he will talk about how humans could never work five jobs in a row.

Life leading up to The Sims 2 (Nintendo DS)[]

Optimum Alfred is the last of the three antagonists the player must defeat. He asks for twenty nuclear power rods and a special battery the player can purchase at the store. Later, Alfred locks the elevator, cutting off access to the Penthouse suite. The player's character then teams up with the alien Emperor Xizzle, and must reach Mechanical level 5 to hack into the elevator, which Concierge tips the player that Alfred leaves the room between 6pm and 10pm to charge. The player steals the blueprints to Alfred's diabolical invention and destroy it. When it is destroyed, there is a final battle on the Sundeck, involving Alfred and multiple other robots. After the fight, the game is over, but the player can still manage the hotel. A few days after his defeat he will return to Strangetown and ask for forgiveness, then can be befriended by the player.

Optimum Alfred is the only antagonist that will not check into the hotel after their plot line is completed, technically making Alfred a resident of Strangetown rather than a hotel guest.

Alfred will change hotel stereos to the track Moogoo Monkey autonomously. His secret is that he actually loathes working on machines and wants to be a biologist.

Sidekicks[]

These characters show up in robot invasions and in the final fight with Alfred.

Trivia[]

  • The design of Optimum Alfred is actually reused from the Robot Monkey Butler from The Sims Bustin' Out (handheld) and The Urbz: Sims in the City (handheld), which was based off of the Miss Gyrotic machine from The Sims Bustin' Out (console).
  • Optimum Alfred's secret is that he loathes other machines, which is actually quite surprising as he appears to have an army of them.
  • Optimum Alfred seems to be far more intelligent than an average Servo or SimBot and also appears to speak in Simlish opposed to just robotic noises like that of a Servo.
  • After the game has been completed, he apologizes for his bad behavior, but may still attack the hotel guests, especially if he's in a loopy or angry mood. The Ratticator will not pick him up as hostile when he does this, however.[confirmation needed]
  • If the hotel is under attack from robots after Alfred has left the Penthouse, the robots will attack and be hostile towards Optimum Alfred, which may be classed as a glitch considering he is a robot himself. He may even ring the player's Sim telling them there is a robot attack.
  • His name is probably a reference to Alfred Pennyworth from Batman.
