The Mystery Man is an NPC included in The Sims: Makin' Magic. He appears on all Magic Town lots, where he sells and buys wands. In addition, Sims can ask him about various aspects of magic.

The Mystery Man also serves as the Spellchecker and will issue citations to Sims who cast magic in front of non-magical Sims (excluding the spell's target). Fines will increase with each successive offense.

It is possible that his visits inspired the visits of Rod Humble in The Sims 2: Freetime.

Buy Magic Wand[]

For Sims that do not possess a Wand, they can purchase one off him for §50. They may also sell back any number of Magic Wands they find for §50 as well.

Ask about...[]

Magic Duels[]

"The Dueling Arena provides the forum for all magic duels in Magic Town, mainly because the five dueling spells are built into the arena. Each spell is more powerful than two of the other spells, and the colored orbs correspond to each spell name. Once you've used a spell during a duel its color will disappear, and the orb will then display whether you won or lost the round. Feel free to challenge anyone to a duel, but remember mastering the arena takes brains, not brawn."

MagiCoins[]

"The commerce in Magic Town reaches far beyond the borders of SimCity, so many Magic Town inhabitants have adopted the use of MagiCoins for their day to day transactions. You can acquire MagiCoins by performing for the crowds, or selling your own wares."

Magic Vendors[]

"There are three 'Magical' vendors who show up around Magic Town. They're the purveyors of fine and rare ingredients, as well as The keepers of their respective shops. Try talking to them. They're very busy and are always asking people to help them out in exchange for rare ingredients."

Secret Ingredients[]

"Spellbooks and Cookbooks are great places to find recipes and lists of ingredients, but that doesn't mean they contain all the ingredients. It has been rumored that some magical devices can also make use of certain 'secret' ingredients."

MagiCo Magical Starter Kit[]

Mysterious Package

Outside of Magic Town, he delivers the MagiCo Magical Starter Kit (also known as A Mysterious Package) to all residential lots. He cannot be interacted with in any way while he makes his deliveries. Once all the inventory items have been collected from the main box the package itself will disappear and dispose of itself. The Total value for the items he delivers is §622, which includes the immediate sale value of the objects plus selling back the Wand in Magic Town for §50. The first set of magic ingredients is enough for one charge of the Toadification spell.

The Package contains:

Trivia[]

It's possible that Mystery Man fining Sims who cast magic in front of non-magical Sims is inspired by the Harry Potter series, as The Sims: Makin' Magic came at a time where Harry Potter media was at its peak popularity.
