World Sunset Valley

Mortimer Goth lives in the Goth mansion with his daughter, Cassandra, and son, Alexander. His longtime wife, Bella, is missing, having been abducted by aliens.

Mortimer Goth was born outside of SimCity, in the Old Country, which could refer to a place such as England or an unknown rural area. His father moved the family to Sim City when Mortimer was young. He is the son of Gunther Goth and Cornelia Goth, husband of Bella Goth, and father of Cassandra Goth and Alexander Goth.

Life leading up to The Sims 3

In The Sims 3, Mortimer is a child (6 days to teen) who lives with his parents Gunther Goth and Cornelia Goth. He doesn't know his aunt, Agnes Crumplebottom, very well. Mortimer Goth and Bella Bachelor are best friends (he is one day older than her). He is also friends with Michael Bachelor. His traits are Grumpy, Ambitious and Artistic, and he is a B+ student who likes to read and paint. He starts out with one point of Logic skill. He is often angry or in a bad mood because he has the grumpy trait and lives in a gloomy place (the Goth Manor).

Life leading up to The Sims Bustin Out

In The Sims Bustin' Out, after 7 Sim Avenue burned to the ground, he now lives in Goth Manor. They also have a ghost problem. Here, he talks as if he is a spooky butler. When he is not working as a virus breeder, he spends his time synthesizing music. This may be the house that was built before The Sims, mainly because Cassandra doesn't exist here and there are fewer tombstones.

Life leading up to The Sims (Console)

Mortimer Goth now has a purple suit and black shoes with a black mustache. He lives with his wife Bella Goth and their daughter Cassandra Goth in 5 Sim Avenue. He shares a 95+ with his wife and a 20+ with his daughter. He works as a B- Movie Star in the Entertainment Career Track. He likes to play chess, read books, water the plants and mourn at the tombstones.

Life leading up to The Sims

Mortimer Goth, his wife, Bella, and his daughter, Cassandra, are first introduced in The Sims. He brings his Old Country upbringing into the modern age. He has an unusual fondness for insects. He starts as a test subject in the Science career track.

Life leading up to The Sims 2

Between the two games, a lot happens in Mortimer's life. He rises through the ranks of his career from a test subject to a Mad Scientist, and becomes quite wealthy along the way. His parents, Gunther and Cornelia, both perish in two different fires. Bella also gives birth to another child, Alexander Goth. Bella got abducted by aliens, and is still missing at the present time. He strongly disapproves of his daughter being engaged to the town's Casanova, Don Lothario. His widow's peak hair in The Sims seems to have appeared in some photos, but he wears it differently now. Mortimer is retired and dating Dina Caliente, and is close to dying of old age. He has 9 cooking points and maxed cleaning and logic, which are the skills needed for the Mad Scientist position. Mortimer enjoys reading and playing chess.

Bella's Disappearance

The most significant event in Pleasantview's storyline is the mysterious disappearance of Mortimer's wife, Bella. All evidence points to alien abduction, but it's interesting to note that she was last seen "scaling the deck" of Don Lothario's condo. Could it have been that she was looking through Don Lothario's telescope when she was taken by the aliens? Bella's disappearance was well-publicized, with "missing persons" notices appearing on milk cartons and in papers. This publicity has led to many theories and rumors, and even supposed sightings in Strangetown. As of The Sims 2, she remains missing. Since Bella is gone, it's presumed that she and Mortimer are no longer married, and that Mortimer can remarry . Mortimer is now romantically involved with Dina Caliente, unaware she is only dating him to gain access to his fortune.

Homes

Main article: The Goth Home

In The Sims, Mortimer lives with his wife, Bella and his daughter, Cassandra, in a small house on Sim Lane (despite his parents' massive mansion on Maple Street). It only has five rooms on two floors: a lounge, a kitchen and two bedrooms as well as a small bathroom. The garden, although much larger, is plain except for the large graveyard, which characterizes the Goths' often seemingly morbid appearance. At night, ghosts often haunt the lot.

By The Sims 2, Mortimer's wealth led to a much larger estate, with three floors, as well as a roof terrace. There is a kitchen, a study, an entrance hall, a dining room, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a landing, a bare attic room and an interesting garden. The front path is flanked by two large trees. The whole house is on a raised deck, with a flight of steps to reach the front door. If a user closely examines the floor plans, one can tell that The Sims house has the same floor plan (except with more floors and a foundation), suggesting that this is perhaps the same house with many additions added on. Behind the house is a wedding arch, along with chairs and tables (suggesting an imminent wedding), intended for Don and Cassandra. Also featured is a graveyard with six dead relatives.

In The Sims 3, Mortimer and Bella are children living with their parents in Sunset Valley. Mortimer, his father, Gunther Goth, and his mother, Cornelia Goth, lives in a mansion very close to the cemetery.

Mortimer Goth in Other Games

Mortimer Goth is perhaps one of the most well known Sims in the world. He appears in other games such as The Sims: Bustin' Out, the TV family on The Sims 2 for GameBoy Advance. Also in SimCity 4 there is a Sim with a likeness of Mortimer, however the name is different. He, his wife Bella Goth, his daughter, Cassandra Goth, the Tragic Clown and other characters are put for download in the official SimGolf site; though, when the "The Sims" theme is chosen, there's a Mortimer and Bella who don't exactly look like themselves). His occupation in SimGolf is an undertaker, and he speaks in a very dark and Gothic tone, much like his daughter, Cassandra does in the game, such as frequently saying the words death and kill.

He works as a B-Movie Star in the Entertainment Career in The Sims (Console) version.
