Melanie is a sweet old fashioned lady - the kind that greets her visitors with a fresh batch of homemade cookies. When she was younger, her roses consistently won 1st place at the county fairs. She still is an avid gardener, spending the day working in the lawn and displaying her beautiful flower bouquets around the house. After losing her husband, her grandson Girbits moved in to help around the house and keep her company. Melanie doesn’t understand the games Girbits plays, but she loves him anyway, keeps him well fed, and lets him play all the games he wants.

Melanie Worthington is a pre-made Sim, featured in Showtime, living with her grandson, Girbits Worthington, in Starlight Shores. Melanie is friends with her daughter and grandson. She has not learned any skills yet, however, it is said that she used to be an excellent gardener when she was younger and that she loves cooking for her grandson. She is also quite old-fashioned since she doesn't understand Girbits' computer games. Her hair is brown but her eyebrows are grey which means she may have dyed it. In her inventory, she carries a book and, if The Sims 3: Generations is installed, she may carry a walking cane in it as well.

She and her family may be related to Frances J. Worthington III, who is a La Fiesta Tech student featured in The Sims 2: University.

Trivia

Although Melanie's hair is brown with dark roots at the start of the game, when the hair color is edited in Create a Sim, it is recognized as blonde with grey roots and highlights, despite appearing brown. However, her hair turns to color recognized in Create-A-Sim mode if her everyday clothes is changed to any of the other outfits. If the changes are accepted, her hair will become permanently blonde. If gameplay is run without having her edited in Create-A-Sim, her hair will be brown when wearing the everyday attire and blonde when wearing any other outfit.
