Mary-Sue Pleasant (née Oldie) is a pre-made Sim who lives at 215 Sim Lane in Pleasantview, along with her husband, Daniel, and twin daughters, Angela and Lilith. She was adopted by Herb and Coral Oldie as a toddler and appears to be of Asian descent. Maxis has not confirmed that she was named for this reason, but her name refers to a fictional character who is too perfect, with the male equivalent being called either a "Marty Stu" or "Gary Stu".

Biography[]
Mary-Sue and her husband make a comeback as newlyweds on their honeymoon on Sunlit Tides. According to The Sims 4: My Wedding Stories, Daniel and Mary-Sue used a message in a bottle to wish (unsuccessfully) for a happy marriage. She has two skill points in logic, and one in cooking and handiness, which is inconsistent with her lack of cooking and mechanical skill in The Sims 2. She has no relationships with her neighbors. While Mary-Sue's hair and eyebrows are black in The Sims 2, her eyebrows in The Sims 3 are brown, which may have been an oversight that the developers made.

Biography[]
Mary-Sue is a bit of a workaholic, and seems too immersed in her job to notice all of the problems in her household—including her husband's affair with the maid, Kaylynn Langerak. The family bio states that their family looks perfect on the outside, but refers to their marriage as being a "flimsy façade".
When the game starts, she is 7 days away from becoming an elder. This is inconsistent with her adoptive parents' ages. Even if Herb and Coral adopted her near the beginning of their adult lives, she would be closer to the beginning of hers, not closer to its end. This could be a mistake by the game's developers, or it could imply that Herb and Coral had access to the Elixir of Life, either giving them a longer lifespan or decreasing Mary-Sue's lifespan. Her age is also inconsistent with Cassandra's age, even though they were childhood friends. Despite the age inconsistency with her parents and Cassandra, her age is consistent with the ages of her husband and two daughters. Mary-Sue is voiced by Zoe Galvez.
When the Pleasant family is first played, Maxis has arranged everything into a recipe for disaster, similarly to when the Goth family is first played. While Mary-Sue is at work and the twins are at school, Daniel has the day off, Kaylynn Langerak comes to the house to clean up. Like every service NPC that is friends with someone in the household, she asks if he wants to hang out after she is finished working.
If the player follows Daniel's wishes to WooHoo with Kaylynn, Mary-Sue gets a pre-determined chance card from work. Unless the player chooses Ignore, she will either be fired or demoted, thus coming home early and catching Daniel and Kaylynn together. She doesn't seem to want to get divorced from Daniel, even though she isn't in love with him. Mary-Sue will get the chance card regardless of how the situation between Daniel and Kaylynn is played.
If Daniel does some of the cleaning, either before Kaylynn arrives or while she's there, she may be able to finish early enough for the two of them to be able to WooHoo before Mary-Sue gets home. If they manage to do this, and if they're kept from performing other romantic interactions, Mary-Sue will not catch Daniel cheating, and he will be able to get away with the affair for the time being.
It's also possible to lock Mary-Sue's fear of losing her job. After receiving the chance card, choosing the "Grammar Check" option will cause her to lose her job. If that triggers the fear, she will go into aspiration failure, giving Daniel and Kaylynn more time in their affair.
Mary-Sue's bio says that she enjoyed making pottery "when she had the time". Whether that's before she had Angela and Lilith, or before she got tied up in her career, or both, is left unsaid.
Sims cannot make pottery unless the FreeTime expansion is installed.
The chance card she receives while at work has been pre-set so that both choices will give the negative outcome. It may be possible that she was intended to be home early enough to catch Daniel cheating with Kaylynn, and both negative outcomes of that card force the Sim to come home early. Players who do not want to ignore the card can activate the testing cheats, spawn the Chance Card Tester, and choose force chance card outcome.../neutral. This will reset the card so it uses the normal odds for success or failure.
If free will is on, Mary-Sue may autonomously perform romantic socials towards Daniel, and if Kaylynn is in the same room, will reverse the intended outcome, where Kaylynn will become furious at Daniel and Mary-Sue for cheating.
She is one of the few pre-made adult Sims in The Sims 2 to have living parents. She and Cassandra Goth are the only adult Sims in Pleasantview who have at least one living parent. In the beta of The Sims 2, Mary-Sue had the 4th face template, brown hair, and green eyes before it was changed. This explains why Angela and Lillith have the 4th face template and bear no resemblance to Mary-Sue's changed appearance.
Despite her bio stating that she is friendly, she only has three nice points, making her rather grouchy.
