Sims need to collect magic ingredients to create useful spells. Of course, some ingredients are harder to obtain than others, and that means some spells are more difficult to produce. Some Ingredients can be bought with MagiCoins, and some can be bought with simoleons. Many ingredients can be made or gotten at home. Some ingredients can only be obtained by bartering with vendors in Magic Town, or by performing tasks for them.

- Beeswax: Buy in Magic Town from Apothecary Todd for 17 MagiCoins or harvest it from the Wax'n'Honey Maker. One harvest will allow you to collect Beeswax.
- Black Roses:[TS:S] If a Sim has decided to pursue a career in stardom, an Obsessed Fan may leave these on their property.
- Butter: Buy in Magic Town from the Gypsy Clerk for §20 or use the Old-Fashioned Butter Churn to make your own.
- Clown Confetti: Quest reward from a Magic Town merchant. Apothecary Todd is the most likely to give it to you.
- Diamond Dust: Buy in Magic Town from Faerie Queen Mara for 199 MagiCoins.
- Dragon Scales: Buy in Magic Town from Vicki Vampiress for 21 MagiCoins. Can drop from dragons after grooming them.
- Dragon Tears: Buy in Magic Town from Vicki Vampiress for 24 MagiCoins. Can drop from dragons after tickling them.
- Faerie Dust: Children can obtain this randomly by playing with the Visions of Sugarplums toybox. Not to be confused with Pixie dust which can be obtained by purchase from Faerie Queen Mara for 31 MagiCoins.
- Four Leaf Clover: Barter with Mara in Magic Town, trade for one Honey.
- Garlic: Barter with Vicki Vampiress in Magic Town, trade for Beeswax.
- Glacial Glass: Quest reward from a Magic Town merchant. All vendors are equally likely to give it to you.
- Golden Thread: Buy it in Magic Town from Mara for 14 MagiCoins, or make your own with the Prick-Me-Not Spinning Wheel.
- Grapes: Buy them Magic Town from the Gypsy Clerk for §30 or buy a sprig and grow your own in the As the Plot Thickens garden plot.
- Honey: Buy in Magic Town from the Gypsy Clerk for §20 or harvest it from the Wax'n'Honey Maker.
- Llama Spit: Buy it in Magic Town from Apothecary Todd for 25 MagiCoins.
- Magic Beans: Buy them in Magic Town from Apothecary Todd for 27 MagiCoins, or climb a beanstalk and steal them from the giant Will Wright.
- Pegasus Feather: Quest reward from a Magic Town merchant. Mara is the most likely to give it to you.
- Pet Treats:[TS:U] Buy them in Old Town from any Pet Store for §40.
- Pixie Dust: Buy in Magic Town from Mara for 31 MagiCoins. Not to be confused with Faerie Dust.
- Rubber Chicken: Barter with Apothecary Todd in Magic Town, trade for one Elderberry Nectar.
- Sands of Time: Buy in Magic Town from Mara for 25 MagiCoins.
- Snake Venom: Barter with the Snake Charmer in Magic Town, trade for Golden Thread.
- Toad Sweat: Buy it in Magic Town from Apothecary Todd for 21 MagiCoins. Can be obtained randomly by kissing frogs (use Toadification spell to turn a Sim into a frog).
- Toadstools: Buy in Magic Town from Apothecary Todd for 9 MagiCoins. They can also be obtained by sitting on the Champignon Toadstool Chair.
- Wizard's Eyelashes: Quest reward from a Magic Town merchant. Vicki Vampiress is the most likely to give these to you.
