Magic brooms are a type of transportation that can be used by witches,[TS2:AL] all Sims,[TS3:SN] or spellcasters.[TS4:ROM]

Witches have many new abilities, including being able to travel to other lots via broomstick.
In The Sims 2: Apartment Life, NPC high witches will always arrive on a lot by a flying broom instead of walking, always ascending and descending by the mailbox or the telephone booth. The player can direct a playable witch to either fly with a broom, instead of walking or choose any other means of transport to arrive onto a community lot.
The appearance of the witch's broom depends on their alignment; good witch brooms have white handles with a purple crystal on top and blue bristles, neutral witch brooms are standard wood brown and evil witch brooms being dark wood with a gnarled and twisted handle.
The Sims 3: Supernatural[]

In The Sims 3: Supernatural, brooms are a form of transportation objects added to the game. Not only are they as fast as teleporting, but they are available to all Sims. Unlike in The Sims 2: Apartment Life, these come in a form of a buyable vehicle and any Sim (that's a child or older) can use them. Sims, just like with typical motor vehicles, can only ride magical brooms on roads.
Note: The player needs to purchase a broomstand for the broom for it to work.
Witches will use a broom as their default long-distance transportation, even if they do not have one in their inventory. Witch children ride a broom that has training wheels ("Zoomsweeper Junior"). Witches benefit the most from using brooms, as their magic power replenishes faster while riding one, or while performing stunts and tricks on the magic broom arena.
Broom riding[]
Besides using a broom as a form of transportation to practice, purchasing a broom riding arena is the fastest way to increase the hidden broom riding skill (though they do gain the skill from transport too). Sims start off as joy riding amateurs, and soon turn into broom riding experts. Once a Sim gains one skill level, they can begin stunt riding.
With each new skill level gained while stunt riding, comes new stunts that Sims will perform. Once a Sim reaches level 5 in broom riding, they can then "Stunt Ride For Tips". Not only does this let Sims gain even more experience, but it brings in some extra cash. This is also one of the few ways children can earn cash.

The Sims 4: Realm of Magic[]
In The Sims 4: Realm of Magic, spellcasters can choose from a variety of magic brooms to use.[1] They can use brooms to travel to other lots, and they can also select one as their preferred method of travel.[2] Brooms can be purchased from a vendor stall in The Magic Realm or bought in build mode with the bb.showhiddenobjects cheat. Familiar cats and dogs may also bring back a broom if asked to forage for magical supplies[C&D].
Brooms can be placed on walls when not in use. They will each automatically be put on their own display rack.[3]
