|
Luthor L. Bigbucks is an NPC Sim that appears in The Urbz: Sims in the City, The Sims 2 for Game Boy Advance, and The Sims 2 for Nintendo DS.
Biography[]
The Urbz: Sims in the City[]
Luthor is the leader of the Richies Rep group and the son of Daddy Bigbucks. He can usually be found in front of the museum in the Sim Quarter, but he also frequents the Glasstown Coffee Shop, Café Multiplaya[URBZ GBA]/Z-Bach[URBZ DS], the Chopper Garage in Urbania, and Splicer Island[URBZ DS]. Occasionally, he can be found in the cinema lobby (notably when a film about Daddy Bigbucks is playing), on Moon Base Zeta, and on Paradise Island. Luthor is the entitled, snobbish heir to the Bigbucks' financial empire and a talented athlete who brags about his accomplishments.
During Mission 3, Goal 4, Get on the List, Luthor will always show up as a potential visitor. Unless the player is playing as a Richie themself, Cannonball Coleman will tell the player to refuse to let Richies, such as Luthor, in as they ruin the vibes of his concerts.
Luthor is the catalyst for Mission 3, Goal 5, High Society. He wants to open up the museum so him and his fellow Richies can hobnob at it. So, he asks the player to find him a curator and to sponsor one item at the museum. When asked about why he's making the player open the museum rather than his father, he'll say that Daddy Bigbucks shoots down all of his ideas and plans to turn the museum into a private sauna. After the player sponsors a museum object and finds a curator, Luthor will begin sending checks in the mail to the player each week, based off of the amount of money they have put into sponsoring pieces in the museum (1/10 of the total amount[confirmation needed]). The name of the gift shop after the museum opens is named the 'Bigbucks Collection.'
At the end of Mission 3, Goal 6, The Ballad of Pepper Pete, Luthor and Lily Gates walk in and watch as Daddy Bigbucks picks up the protagonist and throws them into the river.
During Mission 4, Goal 5: Carnivale!, Misty Waters asks the player to find her somebody 'rich and beautiful' as a date to the premiere of Daddy Bigbucks' film, "Tycoon! Tycoon!: The Daddy Bigbucks Story." This date is Luthor, who gladly accepts.
If the player is a Richie, Luthor will be the Sim that informs the player of the reality show on Paradise Island.
After Daddy Bigbucks storms away during The Bigbucks Players, the player will need to talk to Luthor to start Back to the Drawing Board. Luthor is looking for his father and says that he hadn't seen him since the play. He mentions that he'd seen Daddy Bigbucks hanging with the Nerdies, but the Nerdies don't like him. The player will need to track down and befriend Polly Nomial who gives them instructions to go into Daddy Bigbucks' secret lair, where the player finds a set of blueprints. Upon giving the Luthor the blueprints, Luthor will get mad and swear that says he's going to shut his father's lab so he can't do any more 'funny business.'
The player never sees Luthor actually shut down his father's lab, but during the last goal, Sue Pirnova says that Luthor showed her the blueprints to the time machine.
Gaining enough Rep points with the Richies means that Luthor will give the player a Mission with the following goals: getting the highest level in Moogoo Monkey, owning 30,000 Simoleons worth of items, and having 10,000 Simoleons in cash. Completing this Mission gives two extra Richie Rep points.
The Sims 2 for GBA[]
Luthor L. Bigbucks is a resident in Strangetown.
Despite Daddy Bigbucks being his father, he is unaware of the fact that Strangetown is a television show, and is, in fact, actively being tricked. His father had given him six-hundred million Simoleons to spend on real-estate in Strangetown and had banned him from coming home until he is able to do so. He arrives to Strangetown on the same day as the player does and appears to be living in the bedroom in the casino during the events of the game. He sometimes will mention plans to develop the town, but there's no evidence that he ever does.
Luthor is scared of Frankie Fusilli, thinking that a lamp that the player gives to him is one of Frankie's "warnings." In a later episode, the player will have to convince him (or Tristan Legend) to flirt with Ara Fusilli. Though he's initially worried about getting on Frankie's bad side, the player doing a single friendly minigame with him will convince him otherwise, and he'll go out to flirt with Ara, thinking that there's no way that Frankie could hate a "rich charmer" like himself. Frankie will catch him trying to flirt and threaten to feed both the player and Luthor to his sharks.
The player has to retrieve his 2004 Olympic Gold Medal when it is stolen by Horus Menhoset IX, and he will sell plutonium to the player for 300 Simoleons when Lord Mole demands the player obtain some.
The Sims 2 for DS[]
Luthor is a regular hotel guest in The Sims 2 for Nintendo DS and has no relevance to the story. His secret is that he was kicked out of his father's house for being frugal with his money. Unlocking his secret unlocks the concept art for the rat suit. He will autonomously change the radio in the saloon to the track "Move Mode."
Simology[]
Interest | Dialogue | ||
---|---|---|---|
Talk about Aliens | It's all lies man. Nerdy stuff. I'd sooner believe in vampires. | -2 | |
Talk about Art | Nothing bores me faster than a painting. I'd rather have a postcard of a sports car. | -1 | |
Talk about the Bayou | Perfect place for a frat party. Now all this city needs is a couple fraternities. | +2 | |
Talk about Books | I don't bother with them. Never have. Even so, somehow I graduated college. | -1 | |
Talk about the Carnival | The only reason the carnival is in town is because Father hired them for my 18th birthday... which is in 2 years. | +3 | |
Talk about Cars | He who reaches age 30 with the most mileage in a sports-car wins. Haven't you heard that rule? | +1 | |
Talk about the Lounge | Sooner or later Father is going to buy that boat and turn it into something special. I need SOMEWHERE to hang my clothes. | +2 | |
Talk about Miniopolis | When Father owns every single bit of property in the city I am going to ask him to rename the Sim Quarter... we'll call it "Luthor Land"! | +3 | |
Talk about the Coffee Shop | I don't usually date girls in manufacturing, but that Lottie Cash is something else. | +2 | |
Talk about Computers | Have you seen my website? You should check it out. If you sign up before the new year I'll send you an autographed picture. | +2 | |
Talk about Construction | I thought we lived in a free country! Huh? Then tell me why Father can't tear down Urbania and build a stadium... construction codes? Bah! | -2 | |
Talk about Cooking | I can do the basics: Pour cereal and heat soup. But for dessert I like carameled apples. All you need is a cup of sugar, a splash of vanilla, and an apple. Easy. | 0 | |
Talk about Cosmos | I'm the only heavenly body anybody in this town needs to worry about. | +3 | |
Talk about Crime | I'll tell you what the real crime is! Taxes! So what if nobody in Miniopolis has to pay them... just the word makes me angry! | -3 | |
Talk about Dancing | I'm at Club Xizzle all the time with Lottie. I doubt you'll ever get in, but if you do don't forget to bring some Beads. | +1 | |
Tell a Bad Pun | Hey, where are your manners... you sly dog! Ha! | +2 | |
Talk about Excercise | I'm in the Glasstown gym wailing on my pecs at least once a day. Oh yeah. | +2 | |
Talk about the Market | Walking through there is like falling into a hermit's toy chest. | -2 | |
Talk about Home Decor | I want to decorate my home with ivy. | +1 | |
Talk about Games | I don't play games, but I do wait exactly 4 days before calling a girl back. | +2 | |
Talk about Graveyard | The city won't let Father build a pyramid in the graveyard! They say it's because they're saving space, but I know they're just jealous. | -1 | |
Talk about Hobbies | Pheasant hunting, I like that. And fox hunting. And bear hunting too. And elephant... gosh I guess I just like shooting animals. | +2 | |
Talk about Health | Technically, skydiving isn't BAD for my health. Hitting the ground is what hurts. | +2 | |
Talk about Home | When father is finished with his penthouse, he's building me another just like it, only mine will have a bungee jumping ledge. | +1 | |
Talk about Hygiene | Perfect. I couldn't think of anything worse to talk about than the weather... but you've done it. Hygiene is even more tedious. | -2 | |
Talk about Jail | If you ever meet someone who's been in prison, steer clear. They're all mental. | 0 | |
Talk about the Law | Father always says the law doesn't apply to him. I don't know quite how, but he's probably right. | +2 | |
Talk about Jobs | Don't ask me. I don't work. | -1 | |
Talk about Simoleons | Few people appreciate the problems and complications that owning vast quantities of money just doesn't bring. | +3 | |
Talk about Movies | This city is getting dreary. You think I should produce a film? We could shoot it here and call it "The Prince of Miniopolis" starring me. | +2 | |
Talk about the Museum | That stupid museum refuses to display the golf ball I hit two hole- in-ones with... sure it was mini-golf! Those are tough fairways. | -2 | |

Talk about Ninjas | Okay, that's it, pal. No more ninja talk, or I go bonkers. | -2 | |
Talk about Politics | Father has shown me how to handle politicians. All it takes is a handshake and a smile... a very expensive handshake. | +1 | |
Talk about the River | There's some worthless property in the river. An island swarming with little mammals. | -1 | |
Talk about Rep Groups | If you want to get in good with the Richies, I'm your man. I call the shots. | +3 | |
Talk about Shopping | Shopping is great, but it's only dramatic when regular people do it, when you have to actually decide between two things rather than buy both. Weird! | +2 | |
Talk about Science | I can hit a baseball so hard that even the best scientists can't predict when or where it will land. | +2 | |
Talk about Sleeping | Sleep gives us the ambition to dream, but robs us of the time needed to carry them out. | -2 | |
Talk about Sports | As the captain of the soccer, football, baseball, swimming and wrestling teams, I often have to play a few matches at once... easy. | +2 | |
Talk about the Supernatural | That nonsense is a bunch of silliness some people invented to keep you paranoid. | -1 | |
Talk about TV | I don't have time to watch television because I'm constantly ON television. | +1 | |
Talk about Theatre | A pity I don't live in ancient Rome. I'd have liked to see the gladiators pick on helpless prisoners. | +1 | |
Talk about Travel | We Bigbucks used to have Paradise Island all to ourselves until some jerk brought the tourists. | -1 | |
Talk about the University | I have a PhD in business, but I don't know where from. Father just handed it to me one day. | 0 | |
Talk about the Weather | I can't think of anything more common to talk about than the weather. | 0 | |
Talk about Work | You mean manual labor? No thanks! Try someone else. | -3 | |
Talk about the World | The idea of someone owning the whole world was pretty silly 100 years ago. But today, I think it could happen. | +2 | |
Annoy | No, I don't want to see another impersonation of my Father. | -1 | |
Apologize | Not accepted! Not until you run around town chanting "Luther is my Hero, Luther is the King!"[1] | -1 | |
Brag | That's not as interesting as the time I scored 17 points in 3 seconds in my kindergarten basketball game. | +2 | |
Call Name | Luther Loser? Is that the best you can do? My Father's marketing company could coin 100 better in an hour.[1] | -2 | |
Cheer Up | Gosh, no one has described me using the words handsome, brilliant, and powerful in the SAME sentence. | +3 | |
Complain | If you were referring to YOU, then yes, your life does seem to be pointless. | -1 | |
Compliment | Thank you. It's nice to finally hear you acknowledge the obvious. | +4 | |
Entertain | Stupendous! Is that the only impression of a village idiot you do? | +2 | |
Intimidate | The stock market fell by how much!? Oh no! | -3 | |
Insult | Good one, dullard. Have you been practicing that insult on yourself? | -3 | |
Joke | Sigh. You peasants and your dull humor. Why do you even bother? | -1 | |
Gossip | I heard that Ewan fellow takes herbal supplements to make him look bigger, things like vitamins and minerals. Don't be fooled. | 0 | |
Give an Opinion | Who cares what you think? The only thing that matters is what I think you think. | -1 | |

Trivia[]
- One of his lines in The Urbz mentions that his 18th birthday is two years away, meaning that he's likely 16 years old.
- In the official The Urbz: Sims in the City Prima guide, his name is listed as "Luthor L. Bigbucks III." This can also be seen in early screenshots of The Sims 2 for DS.
- The name Luthor is probably a take on Alexander "Lex" Luthor, a character from the DC Superman universe, seeing that both characters have similar characteristics such as baldness, and both being sons of wealthy men.
- In the Epoch Museum's gift shop, named the "Bigbucks Collection," as the player can purchase an item called a "Green Meteorite." The description is heavily implying it to be Green Kryptonite.
- In The Urbz, Luthor's voice comes from the butler in The Sims: Superstar.
