- Not to be confused with Aspiration reward (The Sims 2) or Aspiration reward (The Sims 4).
In The Sims 3, lifetime rewards are special objects or gameplay improvements obtained by redeeming lifetime happiness points that are earned and collected as Sims fulfill their wishes. These rewards exist in the form of a unique object or permanent changes to the attributes of an individual Sim or entire household. Lifetime rewards enhance gameplay by providing useful objects and perks that can be beneficial in certain situations, as well as helping the player overcome minor difficulties or annoyances.
Lifetime happiness points are typically earned when a Sim completes a promised wish, but can also be accumulated passively every 1 in-game minute; an elated overall mood grants points at a faster rate. Additionally, a significant amount of points (ranging from 20,000 to 65,000 depending on the expansion pack) is awarded to Sims who accomplish their lifetime wish.
Some lifetime reward objects can be sold for Simoleons. Base game reward objects are worth 1/5 of the lifetime happiness. For example, the Food Replicator worth 50,000 points can be sold for §10,000. However, the value of reward objects from expansion packs can vary, with some being worth less or nothing at all. Notably, the Climatron Control Unit[TS3:S] is worth more Simoleons than the amount of lifetime happiness needed to obtain it.
Certain lifetime rewards are rendered redundant by successfully completing skill challenges. For example, the Long Distance Friend reward is functionally identical to the Super Friendly charisma challenge as they both have the effect of preventing relationship decay. The Change Lifetime Wish reward becomes unavailable to any Sim that has completed their lifetime wish unless a pre-installed mod is present.
Plumbots[TS3:ITF] require certain trait chips to be installed before they are allowed to purchase some of the lifetime rewards.
