Knitting is a skill included in The Sims 4: Nifty Knitting Stuff. Leveling up in this skill lets Sims knit various articles of clothing, furniture and decorations.[1] Any Sim aged child and older can build this skill, and Sims who achieve at least level 5 are able to teach it to other Sims.

To begin learning the knitting skill, a Sim must have a yarn basket in their inventory. As their skill improves, they will be able to choose to knit either objects or clothing.

Knitted clothing has the option to add it to the household's wardrobe, unlocking it for use in Create a Sim. Otherwise, both objects and clothing can be sold from the inventory, sold on Plopsy, donated to charity, or given to another Sim as a gift. Baby onesies can be worn by having an older Sim dress the baby in its bassinet.

Sims can pause and resume knitting projects at any time, or "frog" them to discard them and recover a few Simoleons that were spent on materials. If The Sims 4: Cottage Living is installed, llama wool can be used to negate knitting costs.

Although Knitting skill is exclusively in The Sims 4: Nifty Knitting Stuff pack, it is legitimately possible to build this skill without the required pack via rare methods. For example, in The Sims 4: Discover University, yarnbombing the statue in the university campus gains this skill (along with Mischief), taking a Knitting skill class in classrooms, or attend for the elective class that builds this skill.
