Joshua Ruben is an Urele-Oresha-Cham Fraternity member along with Ashley Pitts, Castor Nova and Kevin Beare. He attends college with his twin brother Martin, who lives in the Bright household. He is in his Freshman year with an Undeclared major.

Joshua has a crush on the Sorority sister Tiffany Sampson, although she just considers him a friend. He doesn't have an opinion on what major he wants, since he is too easily distracted by sorority girls and pizza. He looks like a jock, in contrast to his brother the math major, who looks rather like a computer and/or math geek. Joshua doesn't appear to be very bright, although that could be due to his lack of focus.

While it is unexplained whether he or his twin brother is the older one, Joshua is 49 hours away from the final exam in his first semester, when the fraternity is first played. Martin is 45 hours from the final exam in his first semester, which could indicate that Martin is the older twin. However it may just mean that Martin is better educated, as he is more focused than Joshua. Their NIDs indicate that Joshua was the first twin to be created.

He and Mickey Dosser have very similar facial features at the start of the game. However they will look quite different from each other when they become elders, even though they both use the 25th face in Create a Sim. For other life stages Joshua's face is linked to the 26th template while Mickey's is linked to the 2nd template. Like several other Sims from Sim State University, Joshua starts off with no gender preference.
