Hannah Jones and her husband, Aiden, recently moved into the Remington house (a fearsome house on a hill from many a dark tale). The previous occupants, Hannah’s cousins, were victims of a long string of unfortunate events, leaving Hannah the only living relative to inherit the beautiful, albeit strangely built, mansion. One of the Joneses’ biggest problems is that the previous occupants are still busy occupying!
The Remington mansion (as well as household) is obviously based on the real-life Winchester Mystery House and the ghostly history surrounding Sarah Winchester and the gun her husband developed. Remington, like Winchester, is also a famous gun manufacturer (the oldest from America), and like the Winchester Mystery House, the Remington mansion seems to have been added onto over time: with dead ends, nonsensical hallways, and a strange and confusing layout adding to its unsettling appeal.
