At the start of the game, she is expecting her fifth child. She and her oldest son, Joe are the only non-witches in the family. Joanie starts off with 6 skill points in writing and 3 in charisma. She carries a laptop and a copy of The Mummy in Love in her inventory.
Joanie is best friends forever with Doreen Caliente, best friends with her oldest daughter Faith, good friends with her youngest son Jules and her husband Flint. She is also friends with her other two children, Joe and Felicity and distant friends with Mike Nix.
Interestingly, despite her lifetime wish to become a Tinkerer, Joanie lacks either the genius, handy or computer whiz traits. A more suitable choice of lifetime wish could be either The Perfect Garden or Culinary Librarian, as these wishes correspond with her personality.
