James Hoppcraft is a pre-made playable Sim residing in Moonlight Falls, the world shipped with The Sims 3: Supernatural. He lives with his wife Miriam and their son, Alfred. James is a Top Secret Researcher at level 8 in the science career, and has 7 skill points in logic, 3 in fishing, 5 in handiness and 6 in gardening. When Moonlight Falls is first played, he is 17 days away from becoming an elder.
Both James and his wife strongly dislike the supernatural, being a traditional family. They love their son and are sure everyone in town envies them for having such a nice child. Still, they do not know that Alfred was turned into a fairy by the elderly Flora Goodfellow, and this might lead Miriam and James to severe problems in dealing with their son's supernatural status.
It is slightly implied that his dislike for magic hails from his childhood, as he was severely reprimanded by his mother when he tried to cast a spell. He also began to study the law at age 8, but stopped when he was 12. It appears that James' last name "Hoppcraft" is a reference to the horror and science fiction writer, H. P. Lovecraft, famous for his Cthulhu Mythos.
Even though James has black hair, he has grey highlights and brown roots, implying that his hair was dyed. Oddly enough, if the player changes his appearance in the mirror and gives him facial hair, it is revealed that the roots, highlights, and tips of his facial hair is golden blond, while the base of his facial hair is pale green. James' body hair is also blond which further adds to the inconsistencies between his head hair, facial hair, and body hair colors.
James is best friends with Jack Skipper, good friends with Chester Swain, Pip Goodfellow (despite him being a fairy), Daydream Ivy, Linda Rodgers, Nicholas Wickerman, and Patty Younan, friends with Sophie Rodgers (despite her being a fairy), Rainflower Ivy, Bailey Swain, Peanut Ivy, his son, Annalove Ivy, Becky Younan, Crissy Rain, Suraya Younan, Bryce Younan, and his wife, and distant friends with Dennis Younan.
