Hidden traits are traits in The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 that cannot be seen in-game except when a Sim performs a related action autonomously or an unlocked interaction is available.
Hidden traits become available to Sims in specific careers, life states, or in some cases the children of a Sim with the hidden trait.
These traits are hidden but otherwise function similar to the standard traits. These hidden traits are often found in NPCs and Sims who reach certain career levels. Sims with these traits have a 50% chance to pass them onto their offspring.

Burglar
Burglars must perfect their sneaking skills to properly liberate imprisoned items from the homes of neighbors. Burglars like to keep the skill in the family, so their children are able to sneak out like a pro at birth.
Found in burglar NPCs and Sims who reach level 7 of the Criminal career in Thief branch. Sims with this trait can "Sneak" instead of walking or running.
Can Apprehend Burglar
Police officers spend years learning how to best the most clever burglars. Luckily for their children, genetics helps them stop burglars without years of tedious training.
Found in police officer NPCs and Sims who reach level 3 of the Law Enforcement career. Sims with this trait can fight any burglars on home lot. It also slightly increases the chance of a Sim winning a fight, but only if the Sim with this hidden trait initiated the "Fight!" interaction.
Can Salute
Children of high-ranking military officials know enough about the military's rules and regulations to snap off a smart salute when they want.
Found in Sims who reach level 4 of the Military career. Sims who graduate from Fort Starch Military School also receive this trait. The salute learned from completing level 2 Scouting can only be used in childhood and does not activate this trait.
Immune to Fire
Fire Fighters are able to survive countless fires; not least because of their natural immunity to fire. It's a trait that they pass on to their children.
The descendants of maids have cleanliness imprinted on their genetic code so they never leave anything dirty.
Found in maids and resort maintenance workers. Sims with this trait never create mess, similar to an attribute of the Neat trait.
Pizza Appreciator
Pizza delivery folks develop a love of pizza that's deeper than the thickest crust. Their children share a similar fanaticism for pizza, which makes every bite of hot pizza amazing.
You can only get this trait in a Sim who is the offspring of a firefighter, or genie Sim. The trait allows them to set fire to objects of their choice, and they get positive moodlets for doing so!
Found only in the children of a firefighter or Genie. Pyromaniacs are able to transmogrify any fruit into flame fruit, start fires for a short time without destroying objects and can survive for up to three hours while on fire. When they are on fire their moodlet will be positive instead of negative. Eating Flame Fruit will recover some Energy.
Rocker
Sims with this trait will get a natural feeling of rock stardom.
Received by Sims who reach level 7 of Music career in the Rock branch. Sims with this hidden trait will occasionally perform some unique animations, especially when music is playing.
Asian Culture
Found in Sims from Shang Simla. Sims with this trait will use chopsticks when eating, sing Chinese songs autonomously and bow when greeting other Sims. They will also use Chinese-themed idle animations.
Egyptian Culture
Found in Sims from Al Simhara. Sims with this trait will sing Egyptian songs autonomously. They will also use Egyptian-themed idle animations.
French Culture
Found in Sims from Champs Les Sims. Sims with this trait will sing French songs autonomously and greet other Sims with a dual-cheek kiss (known as La bise.). They will also use French-themed idle animations and receive discounts when visiting France.

Trivia
If a Sim in a house has already bought the Fireproof Homestead lifetime reward, a pyromaniac Sim will not be able to set a fire on that house.
Despite the fact that pyromaniac's fire does not harm anything, it will still trigger the fire alarms if there are any nearby, summoning the firefighter and leading to a fine.
If a Sim has the good trait and the secret private eye trait, the Sim won't have the option to beat up other Sims for information.
The ability to sneak with the secret private eye trait is only available for young adults and older.
With the secret can apprehend burglar trait, if the Sim has the coward or good trait, they are unwilling to fight burglars.
Even though a Sim has the immune to fire hidden trait, they can still be caught on fire from inventing, making metal sculpture, taking an experimental treatment from the Science career, or from a fire trap. They will get the "Singed" moodlet, but they won't die if they catch fire again.
Sims can get the unicorn trait by using a 3rd party mod.
Using 3rd party mods or cheats to simply add the hidden traits for various occults does not properly apply occult status and will cause problems, unless the trait is "PlantSim".
If using a mod and selecting the Rocker trait in Create A Sim, an animation will be played, unlike the other hidden traits. However, there is no description.
The Sims 4
The Sims 4 features some hidden traits that are never visible. Many of them are used only for technical purposes, such as marking visited secret lots,[TS4:SD] completed first time actions, or to provide functionality for NPCs. The following hidden traits function similarly to regular traits, but are simply not visible.
