The Get a Life mode is a gameplay mode available in the console version of The Sims. The mode is a goal based storyline in which various objectives must be accomplished to reach new areas, which unlock various items in the buy area of the free play mode.

In this mode, you play one Sim (whom you create), and move through various missions and houses. Your Sim will live with other characters during this time. While you can control these other characters, some of them don't do skill-boosting activities, and they rarely clean or cook.

Intro Edit

Get a Life mode begins with the player sim finding themselves in the Dream House. Out of a smoke another sim appears (Randy if the player sim is female, and Roxy if the player sim is male) and kisses the player. The Dream Hottie then gets into the heart-shaped hot tub and asks the player to join.

  • If the player gets in, a dialogue from the Hottie pops up saying "[Player]! stop daydreaming! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!"
  • If the player doesn't get in, dialogues from the Hottie will pop up reminding them to join them in the tub.
  • If the player never gets in, a GAME OVER dialogue pops up saying "YOU never JOINED me in the hot tub! I'm outta here!" and you are returned to the main menu.

Money from Mom Edit

LP s1CON 0

Money from Mom begins after the player's character wakes up from their daydream on the couch. The Sim is actually living in their mom's house and wants to move out.

A dialogue from Mom will pop up, saying "WAKE UP! WAKE UP! Are you going to daydream all day long?"

She will then immediately try to turn on the TV, breaking it.

This is the first official level, meaning the player sim must complete a list of goals in order to move on to the next location. Goals are listed in the start/pause menu.

Goals and Rewards Edit

Borrow §800 from Mom

  • Use the social interaction 'Ask For Money' on Mom when she is in a good mood.
  • She gives only §100 each time, so you must ask 8 times.

  • The sim must earn a cooking skill point from reading a book in order to not cause a fire.

Pay the bills

  • This goal is only applicable if bills are delivered, which happens every 3 sim days.

Finish the level fast

  • Complete all the goals listed in under 24 sim hours.

REWARD: Beejaphone Guitar

Once all the goals have been completed, Mom will say "You're finally moving out! I did one last favor for my little baby! Go to Mr. Landgrabb's house up the street and give him the rental deposit I lent you! He's got a place that's just PERFECT for you!"

Reality Bites Edit

The Sim has moved to a new house for the time being. Nobody's living with them. The thing is, the house is a mess. Everything's broken, there is trash everywhere, and the toilet's clogged.

A new character, either Mimi (if the character is female) or Dudley (if the character is male), will come over and say that the character can stay in the house for free if they clean the house and fix all the stuff.

While living here, the Sim will encounter two neighbors: Pierre and Pauline Peacock.

After the Sim has accomplished all of their goals, they move in with Dudley/Mimi and become roommates.

Hot to Trot Edit

The person the Sim is living with at this point is only temporary, as it's time to find a person to marry. In this mission, the Sim must be promoted another two levels, and must throw another party. But don't just throw one as soon as you get there: Malolm will instantly end it; you must upgrade the abode. After that's done you can now throw parties. At this party, the character has to find someone of the opposite sex and try to "score" with them. When they do, they get married and move in with him/her. But if your sim doesn't make enough money (which means being at level 6 for example) your date will say, "You don't make enough money".

Who Loves Ya Baby Edit

The Sim is now in a house with their spouse. It's time to make a family, and make sure they, and the Sim, are successful. You can get your spouse a job and have them work, too. But however, your roommate from Hot to Trot will no longer be available to talk to, invite, nor appear on your friends list (the reason remains unknown).

After the children remain in school and the main player completes all of his/her goals, the family moves to another house.
