Forums: IndexHelp deskTrouble With Sims 3 Lag | Forum new Post

Ever since I purchased my new computer, which was about two years ago, The Sims 3 always had a disappointing frame rate, though not terrible. Now, I recently got the Late Night expansion pack and Bridgeport's frame rate was downright awful. It took 5 Sim hours to get into a bar, and have a drink and two hours were spent on getting the bouncer to let me in! My Sim would just stand there and not do the interaction! By the time I was served a drink, the bar closed! I'd love to get into The Sims 3, but it's impossible because the frame rate makes enjoyability impossible.

Now, one of the main solutions to this I have tried (lowing graphical settings) and it somewhat works, but there is still lag and the game isn't exactly eye pleasing. Another suggestion, deleting caches before playing, isn't enough and I forget to delete the caches the next time I turn on the game. Now, the reason for the lag isn't my specs, as I more than meet the specs required. So, the reason has to be my graphics card.

GRAPHICS CARD: NVIDIA GeForce 7100 / NVIDIA nForce 630i

Now, what I ask of those of you who read this, is:

1. Is there a way to play the game at at least the medium of graphic settings with no lag without having to replace my graphics card?

2. If I must replace my card, what is the most recommendable card that is relatively cheap?

Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this, and I'd appreciate a response!

If I recall, Bridgeport tends to have awful lag issues given the routing problems. Check this out, because with your graphic card specs graphic card is not going to be an issue there. From experience, I can say that I noticed a lot of lag right after installing LN yet still playing in Sunset Valley. This is due to a vehicle spawning bug which EA haven't, and probably won't, fix. Since installing Overwatch, the issue has improved massively and it has brought the game back up to a playable standard. FWIW I'm getting ~50-60fps in TS3 from an Intel HD 4000, so it's not terribly demanding and my GPU is supposedly on the same level as games consoles anyway.
